Yeah you aint wrong.

Sad though, I really don't think its hard to stay 2m away from someone regardless of where you are other than say the match or a concert or something. Shops could easily open with a 2m rule in effect. Problem is the most effective way to combat a virus is for the individual to use common sense and many people just don't do that.

I personally have got to the point where I am not listening to the guidance any more (I will still read notes on it etc as I am not an expert on stuff) because I trust myself to look after me. That doesn't mean "yeah freedom! I'll do what I want as its my right to do so" etc either. I will just shop at sensible times, keep away from people and only visit people if its absolutely essential regardless of this weird bubble thing.
The government and media have created an atmosphere where people (not all, but many) are looking at the situation as a done deal - the virus is at bay and it's all downhill from here. It's so wide of the mark it's untrue. We are still in the first wave. It's not like France or Spain or Italy where they have a score or less deaths per day, we are in the thick of a deadly virus that takes 200-300 per day. We are very vulnerable to a shallow flattened out first wave which in short order can rise again into another spike.

It's a disastrous policy being adopted, and one peddled by a government that were told only yesterday that their decision not to lock down earlier and advise strict social distancing cost another 20,000-30,000 lives.

Add a reduction of a 2 metre distance rule to 1 metre and we are looking into the abyss.

...and that'll change. That's the point. It's a matter of days before Johnson *caves in* and scraps 2 metres.
I don't think it'll change until pubs open or schools go back, no need for it to you can keep the 2 metre rule when the shops reopen .

As the shops are opening on Monday he wont make the decision to change the rule until Tuesday (1.5mtr). This will fall in line with his policy of making changes off the cuff without informing the shop keepers /store owners what they are supposed to be doing.

Depends entirely on the shop floorspace and how well the shop owner polices it. That also brings to the fore the question of making face masks mandatory on public transport but not in shops, which is madness.

Sounds about right.

if they drop it to less than 2M I know a lot of companies that may not be too pleased having spent thousands on PPE with it on the back, and signs and a-boards all declaring keep 2m apart.

Update on what`s likely to happen in UK hotels, based on a booking I`ve just made for the 2nd week in July at a pub in the Lakes ( I know I`m a MURDERER )

Upon arrival guests will be subject to a temp check, that is recorded - a high temp and they will refuse admission.
Mandatory and frequent hand sanitising.
Guests from certain countries not allowed ( doesn`t state which )
Proof of ID maybe required if staff believe guests may come one of those countries.

Prior to arrival the rooms is deep cleaned and a UVC germicidal lamp is placed in the room for 30 mins - apparently kills all germs by UV light by oxidising them.
The room will not be entered again by a member of staff until the guest vacates.
The room key and all towels bedding are zapped by the same UV lamp treatment.

Pretty happy with that tbh and I`m very much looking forward to it.

That's all window dressing trying to reassure customers they're entering and staying in a safe environment.

Wait'll you get there, there'll be sawdust on the floor and you'll be handed your own bottle of Domestos.
