He's got it bad hasn't he. Was he always a worrier or maybe his wife?@Barnfred 55 remember I mentioned my mate who hadn`t set foot outside of his house since all this began and has no intention of leaving the house until there`s a vaccine ?
We`ve got a cottage booked in N.Yorks for a long weekend in mid Aug and in view of the fact that it appears that pubs etc are going to be open in some capacity soon, I messaged him last night about the planned weekend.
He immediately started putting up barriers - " what about the person who washes the glasses and serves your drinks in the pub / what about the chef / I`m not getting takeaways. as how can you trust the person who`s made and handled your food ".
I`ve given up and put another mate on standby.
You haven't see his previous post in fairness. This isn't just about a weekend awayDid you establish whether or not any of his family were at heightened risk mate?
He's quite right imo to eliminate these frivolous risks if so, imo of course. Did you see the epidemiologists poll?
Big fan of this. Hunker down, don’t give an inch to anyone. Make more and more absurd claims to back up your initial point which most people have forgotten. DO NOT GIVE IN! Show no weakness!Well they are less likely to put a strain on the nhs due to their good sense is staying fit rather than over eating, smoking and being lazy so yes they do deserve recognition.

Huge amounts of wasted effort on a threat that was quickly seen as a money spinner for the IT boys.It wasn't really. There was a significant time to address it once it was known about, but it took huge amounts of effort and finance to avoid it.

Has he got any close family you can speak to who can maybe help you out
At the end of the day you may have to just let this run it's course. He still needs keeping an eye on though as his actions aren't really normal.
I'd drop the subject of weekends away but still keep in regular touch with him by phone just to let him know you're still around.
I have a similar problem with a friend of mine who is also paranoid about the disease (with good reason) I'll tell you his story later. But I phone him every couple of weeks just for a chat but at the same time just keeping an eye on his mental state if you get my drift.
I think it's important that somebody from the outside keeps in touch with your mate whilst they're going through this self quarantine. Just keep the subject matter away from the virus. I was going to say talk about football but if he's a blue that's probably worse
