Also, you really make it too easy when all I have to do is go on Wikipedia to prove you’re chatting cobblers.

What are you on about

...so what would your 'acceptable' death total be?

It’s a very difficult question to answer, and posting extreme nonsense and putting words in my mouth about millions dead does not constitute a good discussion. Any number I tell you other than 0 will be criticised by you because that’s your schtick.

We are currently allowing hospital waiting lists to explode while on average 200 people are dying per day from Covid. Cancer screenings are being missed in droves, cancer kills 450 daily even when hospitals are operating normally with all of the usual safeguards in place. It’s likely that number will increase noticeably over the next two years as a result of gaps in care.

Flu kills 100 people per day during flu season in the UK but I don’t see you calling the government murderers every winter because they haven’t shielded every OAP in the country. The brutal reality is that society accepts that level of fatalities.

Personally I don’t believe it is acceptable to continue destroying livelihoods and sinking the nation into wartime levels of debt indefinitely.

@Barnfred 55 remember I mentioned my mate who hadn`t set foot outside of his house since all this began and has no intention of leaving the house until there`s a vaccine ?

We`ve got a cottage booked in N.Yorks for a long weekend in mid Aug and in view of the fact that it appears that pubs etc are going to be open in some capacity soon, I messaged him last night about the planned weekend.

He immediately started putting up barriers - " what about the person who washes the glasses and serves your drinks in the pub / what about the chef / I`m not getting takeaways. as how can you trust the person who`s made and handled your food ".

I`ve given up and put another mate on standby.

Interesting website, this. Surprised to see Singapore on list of countries needing to do better.

As a lay person, I agree entirely with the premise that the policy goal should be to eliminate the virus, and take the short-term economic hit, rather than face multiple lockdowns and the adaptation to the "new normal".

We do not need to accept years of restrictions, if there is another way.

We all knew that you`re a world renowned expert on geo politics, however it also seems that you`re also an expert on education and the study of child development.

This is a new and exciting development.

Extra non-Covid19 deaths are avoidable with more information and education handed to the public that their appointments should be kept. That will inspire confidence. And the 'normal' death toll is not a decisive relative argument for the addition to it by opening up society again and going for normalisation. These are not normal times. We have to get to a stage when the virus is less potent and / or the science has developed to proffer anti-virals to drastically cut down on the mortality rate from Covid19.

When you get your head around the fact that it's an extraordinary moment in history, it becomes easier to accept that normalisation is not the answer.

Surveillance is used because it's about the ongoing collection of data and information. As in you closely observe something. It's widely used in Pandemic terminology.

It's not new terminology really.
Confused as to what you think a date is.
Is right mate you shouldn't pounce on her till the second date

Did you establish whether or not any of his family were at heightened risk mate?

He's quite right imo to eliminate these frivolous risks if so, imo of course. Did you see the epidemiologists poll?
