Did you establish whether or not any of his family were at heightened risk mate?

He's quite right imo to eliminate these frivolous risks if so, imo of course. Did you see the epidemiologists poll?

He`s not in the at risk group ( mid 40`s, white, no health problems ) His missus is the same and his only son has no health issues either.

He hasn`t set foot outside of the house now for getting on 12 weeks and from what he`s saying has no intention of leaving the house until a vaccine is found.

His son is due to start school in September and from what he`s saying, it`s looking like they`re going to home school him.

This can`t be good for his sons development as a child, as he`s spending so much time with his mum and dad, and no other children or people.

As far as he is concerned the apocalypse is upon us, when it really isn`t.

All attempts to gently coax him out, are met initially with doom laden reasons for not leaving the house and the longer the dialogue goes on, the more arsey he becomes, to the point where you have to shut it down.

However you dress it up, it`s not normal.

With all due respect mate, I don't think you have any idea what you're talking about, or have done since the start of this whole thing. Fit and healthy people are more than capable of exercising at home and, anecdotally, I don't think I have ever seen as many joggers and walkers out in my area than I have during this pandemic.

You seem to have taken one angle on this from the very start and kept to it, despite the reality of it evolving over the course of March. Let's follow your train of thought.

1. Not reading any facts

2. Only 20 deaths, madness....

3. Only 1000 deaths. Well at least they're old

4. Only 4000 now...

5. Well, life's dangerous, whatcha going to do?

6. Again, only old people (despite this not being true) and some weird segway into David Attenborough and evolution

Now, we're at a point where it is estimated that over 60,000 people have died from this thing in the UK, and well over a 100,000 in the US. That was with lockdown measures for 3 months. I just want to ask you one question:

Is there any chance, even slim, that you are utterly clueless about the nature and character of a global pandemic and how to curb it, and that all of your arguments are just based on you wanting everything to be the same again?
The death figures are huge because the government messed it up. Those figures are not gonna change now. I'd wager that if the frail and ill and obese etc had have been asked to isolate for the last 12 weeks and the rest of is had gone on with our own business then the death figures would have looked very little different.

I get that some people are terrified of life and that's fine and as far as I'm concerned they can stay locked up on their houses for the next 20 years if they want to. Others of us want to get on with life yet are not being given that choice.

They are mate, they're going to get bigger.

It's very easy to make that wager now that the time has passed and we can't actually bet on it, but I FWIW I would have snapped the hand off you. I think it's quite evident what would have happened if we just went about our business. Globally we're going to be at half a million deaths in absolutely no time, and that's with unprecedented isolation measures.

Can I get an answer on my question there? You wanted life to go on as normal at 20 deaths, at 1000 deaths, 4000 deaths and now 60000 deaths. Is there any chance, however slim, that you are utterly clueless about the nature and character of a global pandemic and how to curb it, and that all of your arguments have absolutely no grounding in facts? Is that even slightly possible or are you 100% sure that the world community of epidemiological experts are the ones who have had it wrong

I'd almost have more respect for you if you just admitted you're just bored and don't care about old and sick people

It seems like noone understands these pandemics in this country or we wouldn't have 60,000 deaths.

Yes, I am bored and I know of no one related or known to a relative who has died of this.

As I've said, the rest of the world seem able to reduce lockdown measures and so should we. Healthy people such as me have done our bit and now we want our lives back. The nights will be drawing in soon ffs.

You are reducing lockdown measures.

Piss and moan every step of the way because only old people were dying and you didn't care? What a hero.

Well there were people who understood them. But coincidentally, the countries that ignored the advice of those people at a crucial stage in the disease's lifecycle have vastly more coronavirus deaths than the ones who listened to their experts. I can't piece it together myself.

I notice you didn't answer my question.
