It wasn't really. There was a significant time to address it once it was known about, but it took huge amounts of effort and finance to avoid it.

I think a couple of hundred million was spent worldwide and to quote one major IT guy at the time

"If we had not addressed the Y2K problem the business would have literally stopped, It is clear that the point of sales terminals and crucial elements of the supply chain would have stopped dead if we had just sat back and ignored the problem.”

yes buddy it was the media and not the 40000 people dead.
or maybe it's the many who still think that the mortality rate of the virus-infected is around 3% when it has been downgraded now to around 0.3%. Some revision that. A reduction of around 90%. Not far removed from the percentage reduction in the original doomsday forecasts of half a million deaths produced by Imperial College using an outdated and massively flawed model.

A success story of good preparation

40000 humans dead in the UK buddy. 400000 worldwide.

lets compare that with the original stance buddies.
The H1N1 pandemic was overyhped. There's been plenty of bugs and flus overhyped by the media. And you're probably not old enough, judging by your posts, but there was a little thing called Y2K which was hugely overhyped.

Sure it was easy to dissmiss, but hindsight is a wonderful thing is it. No doubt you'll cling to it.
dubunked.

You're right there mate. Big Epidemiology has mugged us right off, and all for the $$$ I bet

lets compare that with the original stance buddies.

dubunked.
Just for further consideration, Spanish flu was a H1N1 Pandemic. I assume the reference to 'The H1N1' Pandemic is Swine Flu 2009 which despite the WHO figure of around 17000 deaths (lab cases) is estimated to have impacted much wider globally '201,200 respiratory deaths (range 105,700-395,600) with an additional 83,300 cardiovascular deaths (46,000-179,900) associated with 2009 pandemic influenza A H1N1.'

excess deaths are 60000+ buddy. or let me put it another way about 300 plane crashes of british humans. theres no room for contention here.
I’ve tried to find the overall death toll for this year compared to last over the same months but can’t find it.
