Then he is either a liar or stupid. There is no third ground here. We shut down too late - anyone with a modicum of understanding of epidemiologist or basic maths knows this.

Bit of both, especially because Edmunds was basically saying, if we knew then, what we know now, that we should have gone into lockdown earlier. There's no reason, apart from an amazing arrogance and/or stupidity, for any minister not to agree with that.

The wrong decision was made, but that was partly due to a lack of understanding from the scientists as to how bad the situation had been quickly becoming. Denying that makes it look like you're trying to cover your arse, which plainly he is.

Perhaps he’s not a epidemiologist, perhaps, and I know this sounds silly, but perhaps he was given guidance by Sage, PHE and the NHS together with the CSA and CMO, some of whom do know a little bit about epidemiology and maths.....

There are articles being published now by Metro which are stating you cannot blame the protestors for a second wave of the virus because they are protesting for human rights.

As if the virus cares.

It’s mind boggling apologist behaviour.
It's an interesting jurisprudential point about Human Rights as to how you balance the rights of one individual Vs another - where both individuals rights would be engaged.

You might argue Art. 10 & 11, but Article 10 “Freedom of expression” and Article 11 “Freedom of assembly and association are not absolute rights, so don't necessarily apply in this instance because of other public Health legislation

Interesting really, not seeing the trend most were predicting. All the noise about the protests being a breeding ground for Covid may be so far off the mark.

Spring break in the Florida beaches didn’t appear to result in a huge spike either.

We still seem very far from truly understanding the conditions that cause significant spread - especially as some of it appears to be sheer bad luck of a super-spreader attending.
