Its very niave to believe these protests in the UK are just about George Floyd, his death is now a lightening rod for various oppressions around the world.
Been listening to various voices from these UK protests they are absolutely about how oppressions manifest and keep certain people in their place.
I suspect the argument back, in a nutshell, might be 'why should we care about a society that doesn't care about us?'Like I said, I have no issue with the reason, nor them protesting.
Its not the risk to themselves, thats their choice; its the risk to others that sticks in my throat a bit.
I’d have thought the aerial told the truth? That may well be true, I have no idea. And again, if so, its a noble cause.
One poster said the aerial shots are "worse" than the ground level ones, so I may well be getting annoyed for absolutely no reason. It wouldnt be the first time. @davek
I support the cause of these protestors, but not their actions. It's indefensible to be gathering like that in the teeth of a pandemic. But they've been encouragd to with dog whistling about R-numbers and falling infection rates and announcements about shops opening up etc. That may well be true, I have no idea. And again, if so, its a noble cause.

I've seen quite a few videos of the protests and to be honest, despite my initial 'I wish everyone wasn't crammed into one place', it looks as though people are largely wearing masks and distancing. That may well be true, I have no idea. And again, if so, its a noble cause.

They need to show some discipline.
Normal is crap. It saddens me that people still don't see this.
At first it was nice seeing people helping each other as best they could, less sneering at people, a more laid back pace to life, people being more appreciative of others and what they did have.
Now a lot of people want the hell of normality back exactly the way it was.
Has mogg got the mps out voting again? That looks like too big a crowd in Westminster to be able to distance. I hope there are no issues with outbreaks because of this.
Parliament square. Unbelievable.
Yes, exactly. Don't succumb to those peddling false dichotomies, like 'lockdown Vs work', when there's nuance, as I'm sure you know, we never had a strict lockdown, loads have still been working. It could be managed from a position where the curve had been flattened out (it hadn't) and track and trace systems were in place (they aren't).
I suppose it depends if you believe there should be no protest at all. Distancing is necessary, but the people protesting in the main are young and know they are about as safe as crossing the road.
