We all know if they were folk on a beach they would be called bellends and selfish.

People were not explicitly told not to go to the beaches by the Government, unlike they are now being told. Rather nefarious little creature Johnson and his cronies are turning out to be, no surprise though.
Black and Brown people protesting despite the stated risk to themselves shows the depth of anger that they are feeling.

Like I said, I have no issue with the reason, nor them protesting.

Its not the risk to themselves, thats their choice; its the risk to others that sticks in my throat a bit.

Tis, and its an admirable course.

But am I the only one that sees the irony in doing something that could/will increase the infection rate of a disease that has been proven to affect the BAME population more than any other one?
I would imagine the vast majority of protestors don’t qualify for BAME and that’s exactly how it should be
still should be distancing though

Not sure I understand mate. So non BAME folk protesting about the treatment of BAME folk, in a way that might increase the infection rate of a disease that attacks the BAME community more than their own, is in someways, good?

Yeah, we're on top of this now. *Just* 204 people recorded killed with it today.

Another shameful day in the Banana Republic.

Boris must be struggling now. Normally he can hide behind something until it all blows over but even the most ardent Tory must be able to see the man is a liability and completely incompetent by now. Expect a fake heart attack any day so he can go into hiding again for weeks and look for the sympathy vote again.

Oh well, many have been risking their health and given their lives by continuing in many jobs throughout lockdown from health social and many other key jobs during this crisis, without the appropriate PPE, maybe it sticks in their throat a little too.

No.

But this protest (as with the US protests) are only ostensibly about racist policing / racism. They are the tip of an anger regarding Covid19 and its economic and social effects.

That said, it's completely unsupportable to protest en masse now and it's quite a selfish thing to do, as the people protesting wont by and large be facing a life and death struggle with the virus if they catch it, but many others they come into contact with will face that.

And the final insult is that this government will be quietly pleased to see social distancing smashed to pieces at these protests, because they have one goal now and it;s not saving lives, its saving money and making money.

This protest is absolutely nothing to do with those issues though. Look, I am not saying it not a just cause, and I am not arguing that this has been handled well.

I am saying that this protest, or more so the nature of it, is irresponsible.

It’s all good and well saying abandon plans to restart the economy and reinforce lockdown for longer, but what’s the solution when said economy implodes and millions lose their jobs?

In an ideal world you would pinpoint the cause of the economy imploding. If everything stops at once then realistically everything should remain in status quo and everything should keep working....

The people at the top of the chain are wanting their money which kicks in the chain reaction of those below the top then chasing money of those beneath them and so on...

Of course its not an ideal world so there is no solution.

Humans are mugs though.
