It's a strange one, some people are looking at it as an extended break, thinking everything will go back the way it was,so no looking forward, others realise its gardening leave before redundancy,I know people whose aim has been finding the best offers on ale while others are checking how to better employment chances, college, uni, retraining, there is going to be a shock to a lot of people in the coming months/years

I said at the time before the lockdown my missus work place was struggling BIG time, they had turned off the heating, stopped staff using the coffee machine, all manner of cost-cutting exercises that a company makes right before they go POOF.

I dont see how they survive this.

Like Goat said, we were weeks ahead at one point, failed to act appropriately and accelerated through on our own truly special corona cruise trajectory.

We could have shut down or severely limited the throughput of our borders and effected a good tracking system, once upon a time, but a political choice was made and massive damage has been done as a consequence, to our economy, society, and as you point out, education. Don't kid yourself that this mess was inevitable mate.

Im not a fan of the tories mate, just getting a bit fed up of this cummings / political sideshow.

Sadly rich/politicans/celebs think they are above everyone, always have done always will. Walker, Kean, Grealish, Fergusen, Cummings all proof.

For me more energy has to start going into actual antibody testing and viable solutions to getting back to as much normality as possible.

They will be one of many mate, every firm closing has a knock on effect, airplane manufactures going hits all types of companies, even cafes, pubs, bookies, less money less custom everywhere but some people think a flick of a switch and alls back to the way it was, even the likes of sky/virgin,football crowds all will take a hit

For every company going bust and every person that`s laid off, that`s a shed load of tax not going into the coffers and more people on benefits etc, etc

Im sure we were 2 weeks in regards to the virus hence why everyone was calling for lockdown as we were seeing what was happening in Italy, Spain etc.

So its slightly disingenuous to start comparing deaths in the UK to Europe when realistically they are 2 weeks ahead of the curve hence shops, barbers etc being open there and not here.

You get some posters on here who make personal insults to others as they lack the social skills having likely been dragged up themselves to debate sensibly why constantly opening up and then locking down things such as schools etc because of the virus will inevitably damage an entire generation of children in terms of their development and education.

Quite frankly without a vaccine we have to live amongst the virus as best we can - lockdown is and never has been a solution more so a delay tactic but you can only delay for so long without serious collateral damage to peoples livelihoods, the economy and childrens development.

You`re like a little life raft of positivity, bobbing along in a sea of agenda driven negativity and whataboutery lol

We were 2 weeks behind Europe, which gave us an advantage that we didnt take, so now we follow our own path.

Yesterday we had 324 deaths.

2 weeks ago in Europe

Italy 242
Spain 138
France 104
Germany 73

At the start of March we had a chance to save around 50-60 thousand people, but we didnt want to take it.
Well we are all able to see what the scientists were saying now hopefully. If they were recommending lockdown and the Govt rejected it, then it should all be there in black and white.
