There's plenty of companies doing the numbers on how much they are paying in rent, heating, water, car parking arrangements, travel expenses etc. and thinking, hmm... I dunno about renewing that massive lease y'know...

I'm currently negotiating handing back half of the car park to the landlord.

The sticking point is that the CEO wants to keep the big sign as he thinks street frontage is important. On an industrial estate. For a factory that makes auto parts. We're not really getting a lot of walk up trade.

The new world and the old world colliding.

Is the fixation on the R number replicated in other countries? I know it was briefly mentioned in Germany but it seems we’ve become transfixed on it.
its one of the guiding principles of how we in Ireland come out of lockdown
Its about .5 at the minute
If it stays that way we come out of lockdown in 3 week stages
If it hits 1 we will go back a stage

That line “I cannot in good faith tell them they were wrong and one senior government advisor was right” is going to ruin Cummings. It’s both spot on, emphatically true and easy for people to understand and agree with.
Exposes the elitism and poor judgements when jingoistic sentence won't suffice. A Government that is disconnected from the people it supposedly serves...

I honestly would hate to work full time from home.

My missus does it 2-3 days a week before all this happened and she said some of the people in her work who have done it full time often tend not to bother will works events or team building/nights out etc as they dont feel like part of the team as they are out the loop.

Something to say about the social/mental wellbeing of getting out and about and seeing/talking to people.

To be honest, mate, I've never bothered with works nights out anyway as it's generally just 20 people with nothing in common besides an employer pretending to have fun. But then I've always been the sort who just does my job and goes home.
