Is the fixation on the R number replicated in other countries? I know it was briefly mentioned in Germany but it seems we’ve become transfixed on it.

That's the point I'm making mate. Lot's of people are posting stuff on here, really good informational stuff and I would add Bruce to that list you made. But nobody was making these points back in January and February, but are still scathing at government inaction during that period.

I'm sure there are people put off from posting on here mate, but they are more likely to be people who would be more supportive of the government, than those who would be posting stuff criticising them.

I have absolutely no doubt that jebus was right when he said loads of people were bringing up things like PPE from a very early stage. My concern is how high up the food chain those concerns got
Also note, NHS workers can get into trouble for posting about lack of PPE ect. Honestly, behind the scenes, there has been lots of kickback from Junior Drs about lack of PPE, they were treated like idiots, and told to wear basic PPE for high risk procedures. This lead to plenty of heated, stand up arguments at meetings- which could be summarised as don't piss on us and tell us it's raining. If we cannot obtain the numbers of secure fitted masks needed, then let us make the choice of it we wear the basic type, so we know that we are likely to catch it, and keep a wide berth from vulnerable loved ones. Consultants raised it to chief execs, chief execs would talk to each other nationally, but no PPE was forthcoming. NHS trusts certainly didn't order the magical Turkish PPE...

I was actually joking.

But yeah, BAE do employ a lot of people given the size of Barrow, and it has been in production throughout. I've no idea how easy is it to self distance there so it could be a valid reason for the high number of cases. Nymz has also been quite critical of Barrow residents (that's an understatement by the way lol) so I'm guessing non compliance with social distancing has also played it's part.
All related, all broke curfew to see family :p

Can I be honest with you mein frandel?

I reckon in three months I have left the house no more than 10 times. And all less than an hour and nowhere near frandels or family

I havent been anywhere near frandels or family, bar my daughter and Grandson, who doesnt live with us, but ive been out most days for my walk and shopping.

But im exposed when shopping, im exposed every day my daughter comes home from work, you can follow the lockdown rules to the letter, but there will always be a slight chance of infection sadly.
