Just Saw some Labour Shadow Minister person complaining about everything but when asked about kids going back to school she admitted that her kids still go to schools then gave a 5 minute diatribe why no one else’s kids should.....unbelieveable......

Absolutely right. It's like a John Le Carre alternative universe. But one for a different thread perhaps.

I'm even less confident about the US, as even if Biden gets in, their political system is so screwed up, I can't see anything meaningful happening. It's not at all clear either that he'd be the man to repair the American brand overseas.

Johnson has decided hes happy to ride it out. For what reason I have absolutely no idea. Can only assume its cause an election is 4 years away. But it makes no sense.

We are relying on the general public showing more common sense than the government has. My concern is that not all will. And it won't be their fault as you say. Johnson has basically ok'd breaking lockdown rules

Let me say this slowly. Apparently he did NOT flout the rules. He specifically followed the advice of the deputy CMO.....

....put party politics to one side, I find it almost sad to defend the indefensible. My daughter is a hospital Consultant, over recent months she has conducted tracheotomy’s on a number of Covid patients, she is incandescent with the arrogance of the Cummings situation. She won’t let us leave our house.

Have some spine, put politics away. This is about decency.

I appreciate that. So putting politics aside...would you tell people to do one thing causing untold suffering then do the other and not expect people to be angry about that?

If one of my sons had been in the same position as Cummings I would have gone ballistic if he had not come to stay at an available house nearby...I think Cummings made the right Medical decision for his family.....

The attitude from Johnson over cummings was identical to that expressed by Reed mogg over grenfell tower. Cos they are born into wealth and go to fancy schools they think they are better. It's an appalling approach to life.

Possibly. But I think public opinion is what really matters.

Like when the supreme court said proroguing parliament was unlawful. But the public disagreed and the Tories soared in the polls.

Only the opposite is very likely to be the case here. Even if police think he did nothimg wrong, the public do. That's why I've know idea why they are keeping him.
