Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

If one of my sons had been in the same position as Cummings I would have gone ballistic if he had not come to stay at an available house nearby...I think Cummings made the right Medical decision for his family.....
Been a while since I lived in Durham but unless there has been major tectonic plate movement in the meantime it cannot be described as “nearby” to London.

....put party politics to one side, I find it almost sad to defend the indefensible. My daughter is a hospital Consultant, over recent months she has conducted tracheotomy’s on a number of Covid patients, she is incandescent with the arrogance of the Cummings situation.

Have some spine, put politics away. This is about decency.

Ok. Now imagine that your daughter and her partner both have coronavirus, and they have a young child, and they live miles from you. You have a guest house in your garden. Would you want them to stay there or leave them to it. Put the politics away, this is about family.....

Therefore you would expect any member of the public to have broken lockdown whenever they had the instinct to. Consequently you are in no position to criticise anyone who has or will break lockdown.

Sorry I meant nearby to his parents and family. The Guest house is a detached building in the garden.....

Let me say this slowly. Apparently he did NOT flout the rules. He specifically followed the advice of the deputy CMO.....

Yeah ok mate.
If only they’d made the rules more clear. Perhaps I might have gone to comfort my mum when she was diagnosed with cancer. Perhaps I’d have been able to give her a hug and told her it was going to be ok. Perhaps my dad would have been able to go into the room with her when she found out instead of waiting in the car park. It would have been nice to be able to be with them when they told me instead of finding out over FaceTime. Perhaps I could have comforted my family when they needed it. I wish I’d have known because I could have gone up and stayed with my dad while his wife was having an operation to have tumours removed. Maybe I could have done his shopping or sat up with him every night he didn’t sleep while she was in the ICU recovering. Maybe I could have been there waiting for her when she came out of hospital.
Maybe I could go and stay with them while she recovers and maybe I could go and give them a list to the hospital when her chemo starts next week.
I feel so silly for not using common sense and just sticking to the clear guidelines that said not to go anywhere. Especially if you are showing symptoms. Because that would save lives.

and here is you defending the indefensible on technicalities.

Not if they have similar circumstances. If someone just fancies a jolly down to devon that is a little bit different....

That's pretty hard when your politicians have made such a shambles of the response and your PM has outed himself as a spineless weasel on live TV.
I agree. And I can see why people would enjoy seeing Johnson struggle so much. I'm just pointing out that there is a bigger picture in terms of this crisis and that there will be bad repercussions in the fallout of this. I just feel so angry with him

Again you expose a disdain for the whole idea of lockdown that was ignored by the man who created it and instead try to hide behind some kind of typical family values tory point.

I’m not hiding behind anything. I’m telling you exactly what I would have done, having personally observed the lockdown scrupulously........
