I disagree mate. Not with the overall point, but your respected view that it is the worst part.

The worst part of this for me, is that he has put at risk all the fantastic work the people of this country have done in obeying the lockdown rules. Millions have made personal sacrifices to try and stop the spread. I'll get round to posting a terribly sad story my best mate has gone through one day.

But today he's basically said it's ok to do what you want. Just as we're getting to the stage of opening up the country again that's the worst possible message.

Hopefully the country will have more common sense and integrity thanour PM and his chief aide.

The thing I can't understand is why? Why risk all that hard work for one person who has so obviously acted like a complete bellend
He's not saying it's OK for everyone to do what they want. He's saying it's OK for Dominic Cummings to do what he wants.

There can be restrictions on the PNC, which require aurthoisaiton (mainly from the DVLA liaison) which mask registered keeper, home address and markers etc.

Fair point, but it doesn't really matter mate, chances are, you don't actually need a FOI request. If someone noted his reg in Barnard Castle, then all you need to is drive by his house to get the reg, also all the journos see it day in, day out parked in Downing Street.

If his car is positively identified as being in Barnard Castle that day, then I think the next thing we'll hear is that he was there to deliver essential medicines to a, shielding, long standing family friend. Then, after delivering said medicine, they took the opportunity to take a walk by the Tees.

No. Because it could kill people.
Will it though?

The chief advisor didn't feel like going out would endanger anyone.

The chief science officer didn't think he was putting anyone at risk by going out.

The prime minister didn't think it was dangerous to shake hands of covid patients.

If the people telling you to do something aren't adhering to the rules they have set themselves then can you really believe it?

Put everything aside for one moment, you are saying we need to do what the people telling us to do it aren't doing. Think about how ridiculous that sounds.

I'm not sure there is any restriction on how far you can drive anymore?

But the fact is that he went across the country when he possibly had corona. It wasnt just against the guidelines but was just plain daft
Plus you're not telling me someone in his position would not have been tested. He had it

I will be honest, and I dont really care, but the details around what he did or didnt do dont interest me.

Its the weasel way it has been explained away that makes me fume. Whilst the entire country has followed the headline advice, pretty much in a compliant and often cheerful way.

Brits are generally decent folk, but we hate being taken for a ride.

Brits are stupid and have been taken for a ride for about 40 years.

They will tend to react when this ride effects them personally.

This does not apply to everyone obviously...

So Dr Catherine Calderwood who went to her second home, I imagine she was acting on her instinct and Mike Nesbit MLA who went to the north coast of Northern Ireland to visit his lady friend definitely acting on instinct resigned for nothing and should be re-instated immediately.

We have just witnessed a liar lying.

What should follow this is people going out again and doing more of what they want.
This is exactly what we really shouldnt be doing.

Just because one complete idiot broke the rules doesnt justify the nation undoing all the many many sacrifices we have made in over 2 months.

And just remember this was the buffoon that wanted to let the virus run wild to create a herd immunity.
He'ed be laughing his bollocks off.

100%. A minor scandal that should have resulted in an advisor being removed could concievably result in a PM going.

It's quite amazing really. Bar a few dyed in the wool tribalists, I suspect most people want them to do a good job during this, because there isn't a partisan way of dealing with this, so just knuckle down and do your job. If you can display some basic levels of humanity and compassion then it's about as easy an open goal as I'd imagine politics will ever provide you.

But they're [Poor language removed] it up by reminding us what loathsome people they are.

Plus you're not telling me someone in his position would not have been tested. He had it
Downing Street reported on the 30th March that he was suffering from symptoms, not that he had it.

The day after Durham Police contacted his family about reports of Cummings presence.

Makes no odds anyway, as the advice was simple. You stay at home for 14 days.

The safeguarding excuse that they’ve wheeled out didn’t apply, as there was nothing to suggest that him and his wife couldn’t care for their child at the point he made the journey North. The mere fact that they did so confirms this.
In addition, as a key worker and member of the Govt team, should the situation have arisen where him and his wife were both incapacitated and couldn’t care for their child, then there’d have been resource available to cover this, aside from the family they have in London. None of this happened, and he claims no child care took place up North.

So the decision he made was wrong, pure and simple.
