Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

I don't want to jump on the bandwagon and put the boot in for the sake of it but watching and listening this morning to some of the lies told by Johnson and Hancock about how care homes were protected compared to what they actually did (which appears to be next to nothing) to prevent this being widespread through care homes is staggering.

It's a genuine concern that the country is run by people like them during something like this. Hancock behaves like a petulant little [Poor language removed] if you dare question him and his methods and has become more and more dislikeable throughout this.

Whilst it's not enough quite enough, we can take some solace in that Hancock will 100% be getting the boot when this is all over.

The worst is that we've laughed at America for the past 4 years about the clown they have in charge, there's literally no difference to the bumbling idiot making decisions on the whim based on the opinions of the highest bidder.

Italy, France and Spain are the best countries for us to watch and assess.

We need to get back to normal as soon as possible and learning from others the best way to do that.

I can only assume you've spent significant time in these countries over the last 10 weeks to know all this info?
We are nowhere near those countries in terms of recovery. Just look at weeks 17 and 18 here.

To reopen, yes. However I have severe doubts that we have the same level of surveillance in place to catch this early enough as it reappears.

The problems with this app and with the tracing is not a good sign, nor is them continuing to fib when talking about other people’s safety.

The impact of schools opening WILL lead to huge number of deaths from kids to adults.

This government can't protect NHS staff who wear PPE (tho out of date) they couldn't give a F about teachers or schools.

I won't be put my kid (nursery age) in even tho I want him to go to help his development but why would I risk it.

Average school classroom in the UK is 27 pupils with schools averaging 281 (primary) 978 (secondary) if you have to stay 2m apart from everyone, you best hope your kids school has 20 assembly halls because it's impossible for kids to social distance at schools and no one will be tested.

Government using kids as a dry run for finishing lockdown is a new low

We don't know that. I think the problem with schools is we just aren't sure yet. So a few weeks extra caution is probably best.

But hysteria like this certainly doesn't help.

As other countries open schools we will learn more, but I'm not aware of much evidence yet of schools causing huge numbers of deaths.

We will never be able to reduce the risk in schools, or any area of life to nil, until everyone has been vaccinated or there are 0 cases in the country.

There are serious questions to be asked of several Tory cabinet MP's and the PM for lying about the measures they were taking in care homes.

I remember weeks ago in this thread I said I could make a compelling case for people returning to care homes having been in hospital with Covid-19 to been tested above NHS workers who were getting all the tests, these people returning should have been priority number one above all others, common sense tells you that.

Say 25 NHS workers get tested in a hospital instead of 30, because 5 tests are needed for those returning to care homes that day, that's all it needed.

GMTV have just played various clips of MP's saying care homes were being protected and they were lying their arses off.

Nearly half of all deaths from this virus are in care homes, there is a chance they could overtake hospitals as the place of death for most people suffering.

Read this Reuters report, and find out who the blatant lairs are in this scandal, Johnson, Gove and Hancock up to their necks in this.

It shows an abysmal failure of the health and social care system which was overwhelmed. So much so that hospitals moved the elderly out of hospitals and not allowing them in if ill, 'to free up space', so as to 'not have scenes like in Italy and Spain', only hid the suffering, pain and deaths of the elderly behind care homes' closed doors.. It will be incumbent on CQC to launch investigations.

Murderers I tell ya, murderers everywhere.

Just a little bit on why I posted this. I was speaking to one of the lads last night and his 'conspiracy theory' was that all the leaders of all countries around the world (including Boris) knew about the virus because they were all in on it being used as a cull! lol

You'll note from this article that these countries invest in education and testing.

UK has done NOTHING but encourage herd immunity. We never had a lockdown. It was as half hearted as the care for the elderly, testing for the NHS and support for workers.

Take it in one big hit - Boris said and WE will for THEM.

I mean that's just not true is it.

I fully expect that the education department are now drawing up plans, to finance class sizes of no more than 12, for the next 5 years, with a qualified teacher and teaching assistants, to help those 'working class and deprived kids' that are losing out on their education at the moment and there is so much concern about.

Extreme dedication from Johnson, trying to cull himself

No, but the police even stopped a dinosaur roaming the streets in Italy(?), our government would let one wander straight through customs, even give it citizenship if it donated to The Party of Law and Order.
