Means you don't have to touch the mask which might convey germs that are on your hands to your face area. If you aren't too bothered by the mask easier to leave it on until you get to a place where you can properly wash your hands and then take the mask off.

Could also be traveling between two public locations. Taking it off then putting it back on would be an added risk.

The lack of people wearing face masks is down to this government. It flies in the face of every normal well run government's advice to its population to wear them when out when they merely state that it's a suggestion.

If everyone wears them many many people will survive.

I never thought I would ever buy a snood but needs must and it is now my makeshift mask for the shops.

The downside is that with my home-done skinhead and snood pulled up I look like I’m there to rob the shop.

It's advice and not required. Even in small shops and public transport it's mere advice.
