Listening to Michael Yo detailing his experience with Covid saying his doctor stated that if they put him on a ventilator it would've killed him. The ventilator would've essentially told the body it doesn't need to work anymore as the ventilator is doing the work.

Seems to be an argument at the moment on whether or not ventilator's should be used as commonly as they are.

Thanks for that but I have pulmonary fibrosis which is different...I have found a few supportive websites for people like myself who have IPF which is great for me... looks like I will be self isolating for some time yet...once again, thanks @LouReedwalkonthewildside for replying

Th term used in ICU when someone is coming off a vent is "weaning off" it. Precisely for that reason. The lungs do give up given half a chance so have to be coaxed back to action. Doesnt take that long.

I imagine it's because when you remove it, it needs to be disposed of and you have to wash your hands. If you can't wash them, then you risk spreading virus inside the car.
