Why just the teachers, do the children not get PPE ?. Who knows if it’s the Teachers that are ill and giving it to the kids. If parents are willing to allow their children to go to school, why are teachers not willing to take a similar risk, a risk I have to say that is far less than NHS employees are taking......
I’d have the kids in PPE too but am skeptical that they would be able to use them properly for an hour let alone a day!

With 30 kids and 1 teacher the odds are the kids infect the teacher but it doesn’t really make much difference, it seems likely to be a highly transmissible environment.

As for risk, think that healthcare workers know that there is an risk of being exposed to viral infections when they sign up for the job (although they have been badly let down by the provision of basic safety equipment that was part of that understanding). Teachers would have been under no such expectation beyond the usual flu/cold bugs.

What about those teachers that are in high risk categories - are they allowed to stay home or will they be sacked?

I have read extensively on this very issue as I am a teacher myself so naturally I am a bit concerned! Kids do seem to be largely unaffected themselves, which is one saving grace.

However they seem to be just as contagious. I have read many studies suggesting that pretty much every age group carries and spreads the virus. I mean if you can catch it from a surface, why not a living, breathing, snotty human? So the concern here is twofold:

1. The people in contact with the kids are at risk of catching it. Not just teachers, but the teaching assistants too who work so closely with these kids. Therefore I can't see how you can conscionably send back these adults without giving them PPE.
2. The kids mingle with each other, then go back to separate households. Some of these kids could live 50+ miles apart. They mix with adults who then go out to different places of work, supermarkets etc. And thus the infection rate spikes.
I suspect the teaching unions will be be calling for PPE for all staff very, very shortly.

Like above, you'd imagine that their unions will be asking for clarification about this as soon as possible. If it's not safe, they shouldn't be in.

Absolutely pointless slogan because vast swathes of the population are ignoring it.

I wonder if this seemingly bizarre and meaningless change is precisely because the existing message has become something akin to white noise, ie that any message tends to have a shelf life of effectiveness. I can't really see any other reason for changing it, especially for one so utterly meaningless.

Some may re open in July, but expect it to be very strict with social distancing etc

There will be so many clauses at that point you wonder whether it would even be worth opening then.

I'm sure chain places will work something out but I can't see normal places dealing with it well.

I agree mate if they are sending the kids back they should definitely be making sure you guys are protected as much as possible.

Having home schooled my KS1 aged lad since lockdown began I know full well how hard you guys have it so big respect to you and all your colleagues dont know how or why you do it! lol

So......

Can we visit family members at their home or not?

I mean he has said I can go out as much as I want now. I don't care about that, want to go and see my mum.

No. Obviously.

Unless you mean standing outside her house and chatting for a bit then I guess so it's not technically allowed but *shrug*

A lot will depend on the size of the place I reckon and the ability to design around social distancing, which unfortunately will put the likes of Wetherspoons at a very unfair advantage.

Im not so sure. Many pubs get just enough in that they can socially distance anyway, apart form Fri/Sat. Spoons is always packed, so those that can’t get in may get used to going elsewhere......
