I'm surprised the tories haven't gotten David Prowse out of retirement to really drum home this vitally ambiguous message

Even they probably think the continual sound of a respirator would not go down well.

There is also the clear unwelcome parallel with that film series of Prowse’s - in that like the bad guys in those films, the Tories in the 80s were plausible but in the 2010s they’ve been shouty, confusing, generally ineffective, colossally wasteful and somehow have had a kid.

Interesting stuff Boris is rumored to be introducing an alert system that will look at local peaks of the virus and if deemed necessary particular areas of the UK could see restrictions introduced rather then the whole the country.

Flu has a habit of mutating to a deadlier strain. Coronavirus the opposite.

As far as I'm aware Covid could develop in to a deadlier strain.

Luckily there have only been a few mutations so far so the rate of mutation has been relatively slow compared to other viruses. I've not read anything that suggests the virus couldn't become more deadly though, it could also become less deadly but I think you're wrong to assume it isn't possible.

R0 in Germany up to 1.1. Merkel said recently that R1.1 would see the health system overwhelmed by June. So I guess we'll be seeing some reintroduction of restrictions. I think now they will be breaking it down by municipalities, with any recording more than 50 daily new cases per 100,000 people having to lock down. Seems quite complicated and plenty of potential for chaos.

Without a pan-EU response they’ll never crack it

Angela Giuffrida: Antibody testing at a hospital in Lodi, the province in Lombardy where the first domestic transmission of coronavirus was detected in Italy, has shown that 20% of health workers had contracted the illness without knowing.

The hospital, where Italy’s ‘Patient 1’ was treated, is the first to complete serological tests on all of its 2,243 staff as part of a region-wide programme. In addition to the 296 staff who had tested positive for the virus up until 8 May, 77 had been infected but showed no symptoms.

The antibody testing programme got underway across Lombardy on 23 April, with 33,306 people so far tested, of which 25,331 are healthcare workers.

Lombardy is the region of Italy most severely affected by the virus, accounting for almost half of the country’s 30,395 fatalities.

I would hope companies that have made huge profit in this lock-down, Supermarkets, Online companies and such like pay the full tax and on time, no deferring or using various loop holes to reduce Taxes due, as they normally do. That furlough pay needs to be repaid...
