He's a nice distraction and a good scapegoat. Matt Hancock saying he thought he should be prosecuted, on the same day as they roll out Robert Jenrick (who has twice broken lockdown rules) to do the media, tells you everything.

Not sure it’s working, at least in stopping the bad news from being noticed.

The EU is not the answer as Germany helped its other 27 members out on testing ? No it's I'm alright Jack attitude ....
More concerning is thevbreaking news the our bundling government Turkish PPE consignment worth billions is not fit for purpose and is stored in a warehouse reported this am heads should roll, but they won't .......

So you two can agree this government are useless ? Now all you need to do is extrapolate that opinion and park your deep rooted ideals for 2 secs and understand what the poster was trying to say . Not that we shouldn’t leave or that the EU was the answer that maybe this government aren’t the best .

now look , all friends together .

I think that's a little unfair on the EU Joe. The EU has just sent big shipments of masks to Spain, Italy and Croatia. Germany has taken suffering patients in from France and Italy. Countries "not helping" each other on testing is excusable since no country has big enough capacity to test everyone they would like to.

We are and will leave the EU it's been passed in law - my point is there is two Brexit threads already in the current affairs threads ......imo the EU have not done that many wortwhile things in Covid 19'other than their chief medical officer resigning in disgust after an all night discussion .....on Covid 19.......

Interesting article on the role of charity workers provision of support to the NHS and the threat that Covid19 poses to it.

The reality is that although charities should focus on areas of unmet need, the slow erosion of public sector has forced the voluntary sector into increasingly more mainstream traditionally statutory functions.

The virus will not go away anytime soon, because these last few weeks have exposed a whole new level of stupid in a lot of people.
It might not be the killer some thought it might be, but a killer all the same.

...after the Tory’s were banging on about it for days, I see the much heralded and long-awaited PPE equipment on the flight from Turkey cannot be used because it’s not of the required standard.

What a shambles.
Wonder which Scientist or other prominent figure who is not part of the Conservative Party is going to be the next distraction now...

Suggests Ireland isn't doing as well as claimed by some on here. Will be rounded upon and burned at the stake.
I'm not sure why people think Ireland is doing well, it's been a complete and utter farce. I'm my opinion we started off well getting schools closed early and cancelling St Patricks Day activities, but it's been a complete disaster since then. After the Ireland V Italy game was cancelled the thousands of Italians who'd booked their flights were allowed into the country no questions asked not even minimal screening, off they went on the p1ss for a few days, same with the crowds that went to Cheltenham came home and went straight through the airport. Then there was the advice to keep visiting elderly relatives in nursing homes, this advice was only changed after it was too late. The backlog of testing had people waiting 5 weeks for results some people never got their results. Really the only thing that stopped us being the worst effected country in Europe is the population density being so low. Complete and utter shambles, and people think we've done well, we are in the top 10 for deaths and infections per capita in the world. I think the misconception that we've done well is from people's inability to adjust for population size and just look at the numbers and say, "we are doing great we had 60 deaths today at least it's not as bad as UK they had 600 deaths today" well Yea dumbass they have about 12 times our population I'd expect there to be more.
Initially I had praised our response but looking back it's been disaster after disaster, don't let anyone tell you that Ireland has done a good job.
