I`m sure someone clever than me can explain the variance between the way different countries record their numbers mate.

I was reading something today, that said that if the Italians were recording theirs the same way we are with ours, that their death rate would be way over forty thousand,
The NHS would have been overwhelmed, if those in care homes, those cared for in the community and those that were told to self isolate and died at home, were actually taken into hospital and treated and cared for as they should have been. Instead they were left to suffer in care homes and in the community and not treated. Those Nightingale hospitals should have been built late February when they were spouting herd immunity. Which would always mean the old and vulnerable were at risk from such a policy. A scandalous shame for this government.
Yeah the heard immunity policy was a joke. I don’t want to point fingers in a crises but with the way the Tory government treat the disabled in general. Did we really expect them to do right by the old an vulnerable I didn’t.

Neither did I. As soon as it became apparent that herd immunity was on the agenda, the worst was always going to happen to the old, vulnerable and those isolated. Shameful episode in the history of this country. These were the generation that built this country up from the ruins of the second world war and were then treated in such a shoddy way due to ideology. Disgusting treatment from this government.

Yeah it’s sad heard immunity was always going to be a bad idea right at the start. Am glad we finally locked down but we needed to lock down sooner in my opinion. My mum has heart failure so she hasn’t left the house. I can remember her going on when this all started An they was going on about the heard immunity plan on the news been worried that it’s just like survival of the fittest. We do need a exit strategy tho an heard immunity will work over time to get the healthy back to work. We will still need to protect the vulnerable till there is a vaccine or effective drugs to fight it.

Tbf the Italians don’t seem to be shying away from those figures - I think they were just so swamped in the hard hit areas that recording was difficult and they are still trying to catch up.
Italy's coronavirus death toll is much higher than reported, the nation's statistics bureau has said, pointing to thousands of fatalities that have not been officially attributed to COVID-19.

  • Italy's official death toll has now surpassed 29,000, the second highest in the world
  • Deaths in March in some northern cities were up more than 500 per cent compared with previous years
  • Thousands of deaths remain unaccounted for
In its first report on the coronavirus pandemic's impact on Italy's mortality rate, covering 86 per cent of the population, ISTAT said that from February 21, when the first COVID-19 deaths occurred, until March 31, nationwide deaths were up 39 per cent compared with the average of the previous five years.

Of the 25,354 "excess deaths", coronavirus was registered by the Civil Protection Agency as the official cause for 13,710, leaving about 11,600 deaths unaccounted for.

From what I`m reading most planes are at most 25% full, leaving plenty of room for social isolation, so I doubt very much whether they are all sat next to each other as such.

A vast number of passenger planes have removed their seats and are now acting as cargo planes only due to lack of passengers.

We`ve never been lockdown like the likes of Spain, as their hospitals were over flowing and their health system was collapsing, they simply had no other option.

The likes of Greece simply didn`t have the health care system from day one to cope with their health system being swamped, so they locked down.

Every country has it`s own reasons for doing what it did.

We`ll only truly find out who was right and who was wrong when all this is over.
The photo video on a telephone on the news tonight was a full packed plane all sitting next to each other - sorry, but it's as management of controlling this virus - no good having lock down, and keeping this happening......
Airlines excuse to keep the cost down .......FGS
People cannot be at the loved ones side when they are dying - yet this government think this is safe
They could be carriers get them home, but in a commonsense way we have capacity to isolate them in nightingale hospitals......
