What does "done" mean in that context, though? I would have assumed it meant "conducted a test and obtained the results", but if "in the post" counts as done then who knows?

It is a fantastic precedent for people working from home though - if you are asked to do work, just send it in the post and tell your boss its been done.

I’ve paid that bill, the cheque is in the post.....

Half of UK households believe they will struggle to meet their financial commitments over the next three months

That's scary. I would have expected it to be high but that's a lot higher than I suspected.

There are approximately 30m households in the UK. There are around 20m people over the age of 65 and you would expect that they made up more than a third of the households. The vast majority of these will have savings and income not affected by the crisis.

Of the remaining people, many will still be working as normal and some will actually be earning more. Many more will be furloughed and receiving most of their pay, and will not be spending money on socialising etc.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not belittling this at all and fully expected millions of households to be struggling, but 50% is a staggering figure.

Of course one thing I'm not factoring in is the number of households who would still be struggling even if the pandemic hadn't happened.:(

They now need to start blood testing the population for antibodies and those testing positive get them back out to work with a certificate, medal whatever they want - no more arsing about.

They can measure it how they like.
It’s simply not true that they’ve tested 100,000 people today if they are included tests that are in the post.
That’s unless they are looking at it from a Schrödinger’s cat perspective whereby people have both been tested and not tested and the only way of truly knowing will mean that Hancock’s cat is dead.

When they were getting pelters for only testing 20000, they got grief. Now, using the same metrics, they are testing 122000, they get pelters.

It was not 100,000, it was 122,000 and it was not today, it was yesterday.....

Wasn't there a stat a few years ago suggesting around the same number would struggle to pay an unexpected bill of £500? It was a high number whatever it was, so given the scale of the financial disruption, it doesn't surprise me that a great many are going to struggle.

Bruce I refer you to @peteblue s post above as to how everyone in financial distress can get out of strife like that.

you’re joking aren’t ya. Hancock wittered on about total numbers of tests, which wasn’t asked about, then handed over to the other guy who blathered on for ages before finally giving the answer.

No I am not joking. He handed over the medical bloke, and in 20 seconds ish he said the measurement of tests has not changed. In a direct response to the journo who asked if the system had been changed.

He looks like he means business. Look at that avatar. I can't help but agree with him, whoever he is.

Hang on I’ve literally just posted that they’ve done well which they have. But they simply haven’t tested 100,000 like they hadn’t tested 20000 people. It’s spin.
