And yet what? You've only confirmed what I have just said in linking that post

That was my example; you thought citing Farage was ok but pointing out why he was wrong was politicising it.

As evidence of how open minded you are it’s not the best, I am afraid to say.

Apparently might be more info released on the trial results at today’s White House briefing. No control arm to this study which makes it more challenging to determine exact benefits but looks hopeful anyway.

There should really be massive alarm bells ringing there - yes, if it can help it would be great but the opportunity for making an absolute fortune is so blatant that only a proper study (studies) should justify that level of hype and what would follow it.

The downside to having people on ignore is that ongoing conversations sometimes make no sense as you only see one half of the conversation. So there is a facility to show hidden content on a page, which is what I was using when I came across your post

Strangely enough, after the other night when I put a gang of 5 or 6 Idiots on ignore, this place has made a lot more sense.....:)

Tbf there are some studies pending that are better designed with control arms but share you concern, especially given what happened with hydroxychloroquine

edit and this is far less encouraging news

Findings
Between Feb 6, 2020, and March 12, 2020, 237 patients were enrolled and randomly assigned to a treatment group (158 to remdesivir and 79 to placebo); one patient in the placebo group who withdrew after randomisation was not included in the ITT population. Remdesivir use was not associated with a difference in time to clinical improvement (hazard ratio 1·23 [95% CI 0·87–1·75]). Although not statistically significant, patients receiving remdesivir had a numerically faster time to clinical improvement than those receiving placebo among patients with symptom duration of 10 days or less (hazard ratio 1·52 [0·95–2·43]). Adverse events were reported in 102 (66%) of 155 remdesivir recipients versus 50 (64%) of 78 placebo recipients. Remdesivir was stopped early because of adverse events in 18 (12%) patients versus four (5%) patients who stopped placebo early.
Interpretation
In this study of adult patients admitted to hospital for severe COVID-19, remdesivir was not associated with statistically significant clinical benefits. However, the numerical reduction in time to clinical improvement in those treated earlier requires confirmation in larger studies.

That Remdesiver, was what the Chinese government applied for a patent for, as a treatment for Coronavirus, the day after they admitted that It could pass between humans.....purely a coincidence of course.....

Just been sent this from an agent in spain

Please see below an update about the current COVID-19 situation in Spain and the latest information provided by the Government, with the plan for (finally) starting the ease of restrictions in Spain.

Spanish President, Mr. Pedro Sánchez, has just announced in Press Conference the plan designed by the Government for the gradual lifting of restrictions currently in place in the whole Spanish Territory, starting from 11th May its phase 1. The lifting will follow a different pace and change to the next phase (each phase will have a duration of at least 2 weeks) in each Spanish region, depending on how the situation evolves. The different liftings in each phase announced by the Government will be as follows:

- Phase 0: Already started last Sunday, with the possibility for children to go out for a limited period of time, and also adults will be able to go out for walking/practice sport individually from May 2nd. In May 4th small business will be able to open always by appointment, such as restaurants with take away service, so the clients can pick-up the food in their facilities, but no consumption in restaurants is allowed. Also individual training of professional athletes and professional leagues will start.

- Phase 1: Starting from May 11th in the provinces/islands that comply with the parameters to start the lifting. Business will be able to open (excepting shopping malls), under strict health and safety measures. Restaurants will be able to open terraces with a limitation of 30% capacity, and also hotels and tourist apartments will be able to open again with limitations in common area and strong safety measures. Religious places will be able to open with a third capacity. *La Gomera, El Hierro, La Graciosa (Canary Islands) and Formentera (Balearics) will start with this phase on May 4th.

- Phase 2: School course won’t start until next September, although during this phase, children under 6 years old will be able to go to school, open for reinforcement activities, if both parents work. Recreational fishing and hunt will start again. Cinemas, Theatres, and similar leisure centres will open with a third capacity, as well as monuments and museums. Cultural events with less than 50 people in closed spaces and less than 400 in open spaces, always if the audience is seated. In this phase religious places will be able to open with half capacity.

- Phase 3: More flexibility in population’s general mobility. Capacity of all business and establishments will be raised up to 50% maximum, and minimum distance of 2 meters between customers. Restaurants will have an ease in the restrictions although still following strict distance and safety rules.

Until the end of phase 3, mobility between provinces and islands will still be prohibited, limited only to essential travelling (justified family, working reasons).

This is just a general draft of the current plan of the Government, pending of official publication and confirmation of the concrete measures. This plan may change depending on how the situation develops, and for sure following a different pace in each province/island, and the return to normality will have a duration of 6 weeks in the best scenario, and hopefully maximum 8 weeks for the entire Spanish Territory.

The State of Alarm in Spain will be extended 2 more weeks after the 9th of May, being extended until 23rd May included, and may be extended again depending on how the situation develops.

Err Gilead, the maker of remdesivir, is a US company Pete, based about 20 mins away from me.

I know, and they had it for years. But apparently the Chinese applied for the patent for the express purpose of treating the Covid19.....weird isn’t it....
