US isn't so well thought of in the US right now...

Are you American?

Bit off topic but how do you guys view people from other states? Like we are tiny in the UK in comparison but there still feels like those from say London or the south coast are completely different to say those from the northern towns/cities.

Do you guys all see yourselves as being "one nation" or is it often a case of say someone from New York feeling almost in a different country to say folk from an Oregon or a Mississippi?

Something that has always intrigued me and with all this going on you tend to see folk on social media from the US slating other states etc.

Seems incredibly and sadly low. A lot of other sector play-offs clear mortgages etc.

If they are part of the NHS pension scheme then that would pay 3x salary plus refund of all contributions for a death in service with possibly a reduced dependents monthly payment. I’d assume this 60k would be in addition to this.

Yes, I am. Female, ginger, American. I'm the diversity hire for GOT.

Long story short - less unified than I've seen it in my lifetime and a high degree of cultural differences between regions, states and even within states.

4x salary is pretty common for a lot of people I deal with, so significantly higher than what the NHS are being offered. Any NHS Staff trying to get life insurance at the minute won't stand a chance because of the new covid questions most insurers have implemented.

It's a nice gesture but nowhere near enough for the risk they're taking and the fact they aren't likely to get cover elsewhere due to their occupation at the moment.
And the government failure to adequately protect them properly

I heard New Yorkers and Californians call all states between their own the "flyover" states.

The NHS employees will also get 3 or 4 times their salaries DIS and also a 50% enhanced spouse pension which will work out at about a third of their annual salary and is index linked. The £60k is a nice touch and they didn't have to do it. I'm impressed they did it before being shamed into it.

The care workers are a different matter. Some will work for good employers and will be well looked after. Others not so and maybe their families can benefit from some of these charities that are raising funds
