I know. Which is why I told you I didn't infer anything from it. It was only your instance it only had one interpretation that gave me cause to suggest political.

A cynic might say it's almost like you've introduced a non sequitur purely so you can pre-emptively dismiss it in future discussions.
So when I asked 'what did LL mean?' and you flat out said 'political motivation', that wasn't actually your answer, it was just you speculation? Fair enough, but your post doesn't make it seem like you're just speculating.

Fair enough.

But surely it's not the first time anyone on here has fallen foul of Godwin's Law? Are they all moderated by getting called a tool x2?

I pretty much expect that stuff off some of the no marks who seem to take great delight in winding me up, but not off you.

I apologise for the retort. Beneath me, and unfair to you. Xx

And WTF is Godwins Law?

A realist, like myself, would say that there's plenty of evidence of this type of reasoning on the internet, where people are being called xenophobes and bigots for suggesting China manufactured the virus. ;) So what you said isn't true, at all, but it's good to see that you're now very willing to speculate on the meaning of someone's words like that. Funny that.

Godwin's law (or Godwin's rule of Hitler analogies)[1][2] is an Internet adage asserting that "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1".[2][3] That is, if an online discussion (regardless of topic or scope) goes on long enough, sooner or later someone will compare someone or something to Adolf Hitler or his deeds, the point at which effectively the discussion or thread often ends. Promulgated by the American attorney and author Mike Godwin in 1990,[2] Godwin's law originally referred specifically to Usenet newsgroup discussions.[4] It is now applied to any threaded online discussion, such as Internet forums, chat rooms, and comment threads, as well as to speeches, articles, and other rhetoric[5][6] where reductio ad Hitlerum occurs.

The suggestion is that if it's in a nursing home then it's rife and almost everyone has it. Lots of workers who are asymptomatic passing without realising. The current measures are targeted at effectively stopping it getting into homes.
those measures have failed miserably
There is only one way to stop this getting into nursing homes .
Total lockdown and all staff live on site and that's totally impractical.
We have seen in America and Spain and Italy how deadly this is once it gets into a nursing home

We had a higher than expected plateau, but UK deaths have finally dropped back in the last 48 hrs. The last month has been an incredibly testing time for the country, and we are no where near to returning to normal, but the very worst is now in the rear view mirror.

Sadly, not testing enough, which is why Hancock is rightly in trouble

As I said above “I’ll freely admit those motives were included although “distraction from incompetent local handling” was the major one I was referring to.”

To expand - Trump voters do sometimes make statements out of pure xenophobia but in this case those supporters pushing the “all escaped from a lab” main motive seems to push the focus/blame from Trump’s own handling.
Ah, so you have no reason to think that people are being xenophobic or racist when they claim that it was made in a lab?
@Aqui1a reign it in a bit please

So they are human trialling the Oxford Vaccine on Thursday, amazing progress to do it so fast. But my limited knowledge of vaccines, mean it's not a cure, but it prevents you from getting the full blown disease, maybe a milder form. So that would mean, you would have to be tested and be clear, before you take it. A whole lot of work to do, but progress and hope at last, hope it works.

There may be. Seems like you're more well versed than me in this type of accusations, because I haven't seen it. The first suggestion of it I've seen was in your post suggesting that it was rife. But, to my mind, there was nothing in the post from @LinekersLegs to suggest that it was the case.

Yeah, there is, and I probably am. I can't stand the attitude either. It's like, they think they're balancing out the stupidity by assuming that those who make the claims are bigoted or whatever, and they end up looking just as crazy and do just as much harm.

Anyway, I accepted LL's explanation. However, I don't know why you and Groucho have a problem with my question - especially when LL literally spoke about it in the edited comment I replied to. It's not a big issue, we're all adults. lol
