Yes - in general it's not likely to mutate into anything more deadly once its' successful, as that'd mean it'd kill quicker and have less time to multiply.

That said the likelihood of it mutating and becoming a non-issue anytime soon is pretty much nil. They are generational evolutions and can take years.

EDIT: Before anyone jumps down my neck, no I'm not an epidemiologist obviously but I've read a lot last few months as I'm sure a lot of us have!!!
I believe a virologist on BBC a while back said similar. If it mutates it’s likely to become less deadly rather than more so.

Its a significant drop in hospital RIP's the last two days though, mercifully and hopefully the UK is beginning to flatten the curve.
Numbers of cases and numbers of deaths decreasing all around Europe.. perhaps the arrival of warmer weather is helping too, other viruses like the cold and Flu slow down enormously from around mid to late April, hopefully this will be the same.

That's not normally because of temperatures though I believe - I think it's because people spend less time indoors in summer months so it isn't as conducive to spreading.

Ironically we're all now sheltering indoors of course but the difference is we're not cross-contaminating as much by going shops, football games, concerts etc.

By the by, anyone who wants to avoid catching this yet goes to a concert or a football game in the next six months are so are absolutely mental.

However you could also say that barring a medical miracle - if you wany any sort of life in these next 18-24 months outside of trips to Asda and Tesco's then realistically you'll need to catch it!

Echo on the briefing here asking about Athletico game..

Be interesting response this.

"Yes, we are going to speak to UEFA and insist the game is replayed as Jurgen Klopp and his players couldn't focus on the game because their minds were on those people dying with the virus and the game was the last thing on their minds. YNWA"

They say it's humidity that viruses don't like, winter air is actually dryer air and virus can last longer in it. There's also not as much victim D due to less sunlight, and victim D helps immune system.

One of the few who warned early about how serious the disease would be, McNeil is a informative, if long, read.

He is also on today’s NYT podcast for those who prefer that format (his Feb 27th podcast is still worth a listen as well)

If you want some further reading found this article interesting about seasonality/heat/humidity of seasonal flu.

Obviously we lack the data so far on Coronavirus.
