They aren't damned, that is an exaggeration (even if certain right wingers on here, who were openly happy to ignore the lockdown at the cost of lives a few weeks ago cry about people questioning their performance and throw disturbing accusations around). No one is slamming them for building the nightingale hospitals, they are being quite rightly scrutinized in other areas. As I've said what distrust for them they have built themselves, on the back of the most dishonest election campaign I've ever witnessed they have continued into a humanitarian crisis with the same old scripted crap, misinformation and deliberately obscure figures. If they'd shown humility and been open and honest they would get a lot more patience from the public, but that is just alien to them.

This is in no way an attack on yourself by the way

Hopefully when we see the end of this virus they will be mate.

We got the test results back for my missus yesterday and thankfully she came back negative. She's back in work today and not a day too soon as she was having a very hard time staying inside while her friends were all working overtime because so many of them had been exposed.

Hope everyone here is also safe and sound and healthy!

even if a good one, no laughing at the back

The only decent thing they have managed is instructing Local Authority's this past weekend to keep public places open. However, it's telling this took them weeks into lock down to realise people do actually live in high rise flats etc. And we all dont live in a property with out door space with a duck pond and moat, with a couple of acres...

Boris and his cronies have been a shambles through all this, but every decision they make (even if a good one, no laughing at the back) there will always be a section of the media, experts, the population who will have a pop at them for it, that's why I was saying damned if they do...that's the point I was making.

Guy I know who runs one of the main telehealth platforms used by the NHS summed it up in the Times over the weekend. We're kinda just looking for the least bad scenario all the time, and you sense that many people still expect a non-bad scenario to be magicked out of somewhere.

You get an impression that society as a whole is pretty forgiving of doctors, nurses, police officers, grocery store workers, and others that are working in both unprecedented circumstances and under intense pressure. We don't expect them to be perfect all the time, yet we seem to demand that from our politicians.

Hmmm all the midwest pols who wanted to throw pipeline protesters in jail for a decade are now concerned about the 1st amendment.

I won't bother to point out the hypocrisy because they are disgusting filth who only care about themselves.

Meanwhile the workplace has went straight from, damn we've been lucky too totally @#$%ed in a matter of 48 hours. Co-workers testing positive left and right and we immediately ran out gowns in those same 48hrs. sister site 10 miles away went from 6 cases to 183 in 2 weeks, we are headed there.

Who is expecting that from politicians?

More to the point - who would give doctors, nurses, police officers, grocery store workers and others the benefit of the doubt if they spent months lying about things? Or refused to change and learn from previous failings / things revealed in exercises?

Department of Health in Northern Ireland has launched a new COVID-19 statistics dashboard which shows hospital admissions/ICU capacity etcetera. For any who are interested:

They are doing an excellent job on providing data - usually a good sign for both organization capability and leads to much better accountability.

Women make up 58% of the cases but only 44% of the deaths.

Those professions are also a billion times more likely to admit a mistake, and no just obscure the question
