The pubs will be open by August surely
But on the upside, Pete's liver has been spotted looking fit, healthy and taking advantage of its new lease of life. #NatureisHealing

In @peteblue case I think His pub is done more for the community Than as a business but if this Christmas thing is right you’d see busineses shut for not far off a year . I’d be surprised if many could survive that , despite In many cases Property landlords and brewers displaying a fair bit of leeway I can’t see that going on for another 8 months.

.
The landscape of the Country and the community could look very different . The likes of Martin with his £40m who doesn’t pay his staff could probably hoover a few up though , so nice for him .

I think the Christmas shout is probably overselling it and we’ll see that moved but I do think we’ll see a later opening that most other shops and the like and then various restrictions on numbers etc .

So most pubs who aren’t owned by breweries will well close down after this. Can’t see how they make it through it.

Apply that to most pubs that are owned by Pub Companies too, as the majority of them have only deferred payment of the rent for their landlords etc and that will still need paying back.

How would it be applied - ie : would it apply to food led pubs, as well as wet pubs ?

Also has " Christmas " just been plucked out of thin air ?

Unless we have a vaccine by then nothing really will have changed other than more people will have had it ?

* Not having a go by the way.

Sweden: While there is no official lock-down, the vast majority of the population are practicing social distancing on their own, life is not normal in Sweden, maybe 10% normal compared to January.

Sorry for not researching UK deaths in detail mate.

But seriously.

Given the percentage of deaths there , the number increases significantly obviously due to the virus but there is far more deaths attributed to unknown factors based on that information.

I wonder if there is a similar cause of death at a similar percentage in each of these weeks that is conveniently forgotten? Like I know smoking related deaths is fairly high , perhaps a spotlight should be shone on them once things have passed the worst? Otherwise its blissful ignorance.
GPS have been instructed to include CV-19 on the DC where the person has shown symptoms. You have to assume that the GPS all act with professionalism and integrity in this regard. Now that testing is being extended to care/nursing homes we'll get a more accurate, or at least a more certain picture. It may then show whether the previous reported deaths were accurate or not.

Let's hope they are able to roll out the community testing quickly and the staff actually get to test the patients before they die

Plus a lot of the breweries would use it as an excuse to cash in on the property value of the pub for alternate use ( flats / houses / shops etc ) - the Roscoe Head in town immediately springs to mind.

Short term you’d imagine Arse is probably going to be falling out of the property market . However if you’ve got any cash at the minute then you’d think you’d get yourself some bargains .

Most brewers concentrating on the haemorrhaging share prices at the min and staying afloat at the minute .

Personally, I've always preferred dingy, half-empty pubs. You'd catch a lot worse than the coronavirus by spending 10 minutes in the Temple Bar pub on a Saturday night at the best of times imo

Haven’t a clue but I from most landlords I’ve ever met they generally are working on slim margins and tight budgets just to survive during normal times. I’m no expert on anything financial so can’t speak with any type of authority on the matter.

Can see a few big chains going under like ‘Toby Carvery’ etc. I don’t know where the Christmas line came from as I think no deadlines anywhere are set apart from the current 3 week lockdown extension. In all fairness to the the tories this is probably the best way now, just re-evaluate every day. Obviously have some sort of exit strategy but it’s hard to have a nailed on successful exit strategy without a vaccine like you said mate.

Either way I’m missing the pub and my garden is taking a battering from me urinating on the fence.

The family that run my local have two Punch Taverns Pubs - they run them as a family concern, so everyone in the family is invloved.

Their outgoings on both pubs combined, before they start making a profit is six grand a month - that`s all the bills, rent, wages, utilities, Sky, BT, beer etc.
