We will be in a similar position in a few weeks with apparently half the number of intensive care beds than Italy. We need to take the proper precautions now

oh god, what are you gonna do to pass the time? I think I’d be okay because I’d just go on the PlayStation and binge watch box sets, but I know some people would go a bit loco

Thankfully there's the Gold Cup to keep me occupied over the coming days. However, I am currently besides myself. Depressing enough as it is that I've had to return to the UK as I've got other things going on in my life but can't do anything about them for another 11 days.

Don’t think a small number of Italian returning from China will be as devastated as tens of thousands of returning Chinese factory workers.

Majority of the Chinese traveled to China for new year celebration in mid February and returned to Italy in late February. If you look at the average incubation period, the timeline of the current outbreak matches the date of their return. With no mandatory 14 days quarantine, it’s no surprise italy is paying the price now. Most of the Italian base Chinese came from Wenzhou, one of the worst hit area in China. Many were trying to get out of due to health system getting overwhelm and Italy is a logical place to go. Most of them are migrant factory workers for famous fashion brand.

While China banned travelling within its own border, the rest of the western country sit back with ignorant attitude and with little or no border control.

It’s no surprise to see country with stringent quarantine measures and partial border restriction are keeping the virus under control. Just look at Taiwan compare to japan and Korea.

Nothing about targeting anyone. It is just the way it is. While the rest of the world are suffering, China media are having a good time mocking Europe and US for the way they are handling the crisis and would be happy to see travel restriction implement on people from these region.

I may be wrong, but I don't often hear of Chinese migrant factor workers jetting off to Italy? You mean on holiday?

Chinese media definitely is anti-American, as the American media is anti-Chinese (tit-for-tat). Trade war going on and it's very bitter. But the Chinese media would be right in this case, as the response to this virus especially in America is pathetic.

Generalizations such as 'the Chinese' did this, or the Chinese did that, are always absurd if you think about them though. My wife is Chinese, and she didn't do anything!

Sounds like much of it is just general networking mate. If so, I'd err on the side of caution if I were you. If the meetings were important, I personally would attend. But then I don't know your personal circumstances and whether you are in regular contact with somebody who could be considered a higher risk.
I skipped it in the end mate. It was purely a social thing. I didn't fancy sitting in a restaurant up close with a load of randoms whose travel history and hygiene habits I don't know haha. The last one there was an Italian woman ho'd just got back from Italy and was boasting about how unworried she was about it and it's just the flu and all that and CBA with that tonight. The German authorities are starting to get serious about it. If it was people I knew it would be fine. I think a bit of social distancing for a week or 2 should be fine.

Rte reporting on their CL coverage that a Lingfield player in Belfast has tested positive and that uefa are seriously considering postponing the euros until next summer 2021.

Yes Windsor Park been closed for a deep clean. Hopefully player and those round him are ok.

Bound to be matches postponed now. I'll be amazed if sport is still ongoing by the end of the month.

Right, and because of the ridiculous overreaction to the virus I can't get checked out by a doctor for another 10 days. Same with the cough which I'm pretty sure is because of a lung infection.

The only thing I can do is just hope against hope that the trots and the cough are not due to far more serious issues. Which, had they been seen to early enough could have prevented any serious damage to the body.

Joking aside, can you do a telehealth consultation with a doctor?

A lot will depend on the surgery you're registered with and how long it takes to get an appointment, but in your situation @Paris, if self medication and/or 111 doesn't help, I'd be ringing my local surgery and asking for a telephone appointment with a doctor.

How many weeks are we behind Italy?

3 WEEKS BY ALL ACCOUNTS
However the first case in Britain was on FEB 21
Italy first recorded case Jan 30
So by the 1st April Britain could have 10,00 cases and hundreds of deaths
But keep washing your hands and going to football matches
Doing the maths and it seems to be spreading at a slightly faster rate in Britain than in ITALY
Keep washing your hands lads

People saying its just the flu. Yes it may not be deadly to most people but its the strain they put on thd whole system, elective surgeries being put on hold, all hands on desk. Bed being taken up.

Imagine this on top of the usual overcrowding in our hospitals everyday.
It's a good point.

Everyone is talking about the fatality rate of disease, but the amount of fatalities that may occur from unrelated issues due to the overstretching of NHS resources could also be fairly large as well.
