Mate, I dont know what the goverment can do to be totally honest. But my gripe is why do they keep asking about the end of the lockdown? We are nowhere near the end. They are pointless questions imo. Maybe in another 2 weeks maybe ask then.

Because the media want a story and they want a reaction.

The government in this instance haven't bit. They haven't offered a line on when the lockdown could be lifted (sensibly).

But I'm glad they also aren't saying that there's going to be martial law and curfews etc.

Maybe it's needed in some instances but how you go about policing it? God knows.

It's all a stressful, horrid situation but I don't think the answer is stopping someone being able to go out on a run and stay 2m away from anyone else they see.

Has there been a spike in online purchases?

For the time of year, yep. I live in a village where all the houses are names, not numbers, (delivery drivers nightmare). A young lad who delivers around here who I have got to know, knocked on my door just this morning asking where so and so house was.

Asked him how things were, and he said pretty much peak. (Christmas is peak). Mainly, but not only, paint, wallpaper, and garden stuff.

Raab refused to give assurances to non essential workers who are being forced into work. When are the police going to close down non essential companies?

I've already given you an example. The gov are telling all manufacturing that they can work

but again why shouldn’t they ? If people/the government don’t want it to happen than shut it down . It’s like that chief constable shouting and threatening people buying none essential stuff when in reality they could tell Tesco’s or Asda or whatever to stop selling them But easier to shout at joe public .

Raab refused to give reassurances to the lady from Granada about the man being forced into work. Where's the outcry to send the police in and close non essential companies and stop non essential deliveries.

On a side note - In the same way that Brexit made people hate each other (i.e lots of animosity from the younger generations towards their Brexiteer parents etc) - Do you think that this whole mess will make the British public more distrustful and negative towards other members of the public?

Find myself disliking other people more and more each day

I get the completely opposite picture if I am honest.

you're not allowed to leave your home unless your a blind man forced to go to work in a warehouse to send parcels for online shoppers .

Unbelievably incoherent and inconsistent. So those that are forced to go to work, in non essential jobs are going to get fined for being outside on their way to work.

So the government are asking for people to stay at home, but can still go to work even if it's non essential. Incoherent and inconsistent message, I'd say.

Well, you need to think about really. Non essential shops have been closed. But supermarkets, corner shops, offies, pet shops, probably a few others I forget, are open.

So they need to be stocked. So the supply chain, from production to delivery, is therefore essential. So anyone working in any company supplying any shop with anything they stock, is essential.

I think it is part of the UK population that is incoherent.
