Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Why are the press/news media more interested what the goverment are going to do when they relax the lockdown? Ffs, they should be pushing them to take stiffer measures to stop people going out, here and now.

What can they do?

Have the army on every street?

People are following the rules - the vast, vast majority. They are not going to stop people going out on their own for a run - is that what you want? People locked in their houses? Or all those that live in flats locked in there for the next few months?

The measure should - and even could be already - start showing results in the very near future. Deaths will continue to rise because they are cases far along. The deaths aren't rising right now because people are now going out on a run or for a walk. They are rising because of previous inaction.

We are on course, as it stands, with the rest of Europe. That should mean a peak starting within the next week. Then we'll have to see how long that peak lasts.

When bell ends stop ordering stuff on line.

but again why shouldn’t they ? If people/the government don’t want it to happen than shut it down . It’s like that chief constable shouting and threatening people buying non essential stuff when in reality they could tell Tesco’s or Asda or whatever to stop selling them But easier to shout at joe public .

Mate, I dont know what the goverment can do to be totally honest. But my gripe is why do they keep asking about the end of the lockdown? We are nowhere near the end. They are pointless questions imo. Maybe in another 2 weeks maybe ask then.

Noticed this has became a narrative lately. Strange.

I suspect because a number of experts seem to be saying we have no exit strategy from this , including some of the governments own people . I don’t know if the press want to ask the questions without trying to be too alarmist but I do think it’s potentially a matter of concern.

I am absolutely astounded by the amount of people who can't just do what they are told... to stop people dying.

There's a difference though.

People should have common sense. There has been nobody as far as I'm aware that I know of breaking the rules in terms of social distancing. I can only base it on my experience. Everyone else's experiences are different.

The UK, Ireland, the rest of Europe etc have all suffered and are suffering now because we're catching our tails.

I don't think anyone with any sense is expecting or asking for the lockdown to be lifted any time soon.

I just don't think people demanding police/army come and physically stop someone going on a walk is sensible either.
