I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment that it's hard to find a substantive discussion on that level, though. In principle, the good is supposed to drive out the bad in the marketplace of ideas. In practice, it seems to take a long time, if it indeed ever occurs. One wonders what Goebbels would have thought about social media.

Yep. Social media undermines the health of a democracy in a very big way. Aside from the legions of bots, and shills, employed, it is also used by media outlets, enabling tabloid scum especially, to basically say, and report anything that fits their agenda, whether extreme SJW left, or the xenophobic new right, which are IMO basically the same thing/agenda anyway.

News sources these days are just people on twitter, and in many cases probably just men/women who have been fed their lines by the very same journalists writing the stories! It allows them basically to create out of thin air, any narrative they like, and is right out of the Fox News' handbook ('some people say'). As you say Goebbels would definitely have creamed himself, although American propaganda is pathetic by British standards...

The same people declaring 'fake news' are in a 'smelt it dealt it' kind of way, those that are creating and propagating it. Whether its climate change, or the bogus 'War on Terror' post 911, we are being fed an uninterrupted diet of hatred, manipulation, and lies. And social media is a big part of that...

If you've washed your hands recently, and are in a place where you know there's nowhere for you to pick up the virus from a contaminated surface, it's pretty much fine to touch your face.

But if you've been in a public area since you last washed your hands, then you might have touched a contaminated surface with your hands, and so you risk transferring the virus to your facial area. The virus, like most viruses, can only really get into your system via your mouth, eyes, ears and nose - hence the don't touch your face advice.

In reality, it's a habit which is all but impossible to break, so washing your hands regularly, especially when you get to your "own space" ( home / desk at office etc ) from a possibly contaminated area is probably the best most of us can do.

Yeah, I largely pay close attention to hands/face only when I am out. When I get home I quickly wash my hands, and don't really worry about it after that. I just try to take care with what I bring into the house.

I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to follow the Italian model.

My mate i live with is from just outside Rome and neither him or his family appear to have a clue what they will be told one day to the next.
