Corners,set pieces & crosses...

Let's face it - we've never really posed a threat at corners since the days of Big Dunc. Hoped Mina would change that but doesn't look like it's happening..
Mina has started well and is a very good player but i have a slight worry defensively when it comes to set pieces and crosses probably due to the fact that everywhere else he's played he's had it all his own way aerially. As i say it will be part of the learning curve in terms of English football for him but I'd certainly like to see him attack the ball with more vigour. Needs to get more distance on his headers too, that was shown in the orcs goal last week.

If only teams didn't put a man on the front post, we do seem to struggle to beat him and hit dangerous areas. I think the amount of conversions for the amount of corners we have is actually quite dreadful and that's being kind, it's disgustingly poor.

We might start putting someone on the near post cause most of our seem to be played there

Complaining that a centre half isn't already in double figures for goals after 4 games may just be peak Everton fandom.
I'm not complaining. I'm also not suggesting that it'll never happen, but that it just doesn't look like it is currently.

96 corners we've had.

Second most in the league, comfortably ahead of most everyone else. It's difficult trying to find the stats for goals from a corner tho. This is from 2015:

In fact, some 2,371 corners have been taken this season, meaning a goal is scored from a corner every 37.6 attempts

Even if scoring from corners have gone down since then, we still are woeful at it. Even free kicks are pretty pathetic, within the league only Arsenal has scored more than 1. And we have a supposed "dead ball maestro" and still are terrible at it.

We've been terrible at them for the best part of a decade now.

Even throw-ins. Coleman in particular takes the worst throw-in in the league, honestly.

Just take a short one and alternate it. Gives their defence something else to think about may get into a better position for the cross. Failing that just give them a goal kick because its a waste of everyone's time.

We had a free kick near the end of the game down our left near the touchline, Digne and Bernard were stood over the ball and Newcastle had only sent one defender out. Bernard slowly started to walk away and it was a perfect opportuinity for Digne to roll the ball to him to let him cross it from a different angle and catch their defence by surprise. Or even play a 1 2 and let Digne run towards goal.

But nope, it ended up with Digne 957th crap cross of the night.

It's not easy to score from set pieces unless thats all you try to do but surely it's not difficult to be somewhat less crap at them than we are.

We need to change the angle more. When teams put 10 in the box to defend a corner take a short corner to the 18 yard box extended and swing one in from there. Can't remember who scored like this against us, perhaps Brighton
