Fellaini ? Billy ? Yak ?
Surely this is classed as big money ?

Beattie... I remember signing him, and my dad (Ipswich fan) said he isn't an Everton 'type of player', got in a massive argument with him, mum had to get involved aha. Was kinda right..

AJ (who i still think was great)

The numbers that matter are the amounts spent since Moyes took over compared to other clubs. Which is smaller in almost every case.

Do you think it's unimpressive that we've maintained top 8 in the richest league in the world with £1.5m per year net spend ?

Moyes league position is a source of pride in isolation.

Personally I feel the huge debt it's loaded via the mortgages and sale of the training ground to pay his and the squads wages make it a minimum return without any cups. Remember he was given a 20+ million dowry on arrival via Rooney and when Moyes goes we'll effectively have Felli and Baines as our only real assets. IMO not radically different from the position Moyes inherited - is that worth 10 yrs?

Think you're ignoring the part where we went from relegation candidates to Champions League qualification. The fact that he got £20m from the Rooney sale just makes the following years even more impressive. -18m net spend over the past four seasons, and yet we still finish top 8.

Well yeh I accept those first 3 yrs were a vast improvement I don't think anyone can argue as I don't think anyone would argue the rooney impact.

But taken in the round looking at where we are over a 10 yr period which is what must be done am I wrong to suggest we're not really that much further forward?

We are as far forward as a team who has spent £1.8m per season for ten years can possibly hope to be. Compared to the spending of other teams in the league we are well exceeding expectations.

I honestly believe there shouldn't be one Everton supporter who could disagree that Moyes has managed the sparse funds very effectively. The resultant is that what we have is a very good (albeit small) squad of players with a mix of old and young players who have the skills and abilities to mix it with the best in the EPL, but a manager who is overly cautious in their deployment resulting in losses in matches we should win easily.

I think we may be getting somewhere, my perspective on the EFC reality is if Moyes has been prepared to endorse Kenwright he must share in the criticism if we don't win stuff. I know the other view is he's fighting the good fight against the ogre so leave him alone we're getting 7th ish every year. Sorry mate while I've got a hole in my arse I'll never accept that without complaint - nothing I can do about it.

Should see a doctor about that mate :D

In the past ten years the net spend of the following clubs:

Newcastle: £30m
Everton: £18m
Aston Villa: £105m (FFS)
Fulham: £17m
West Brom: £32m

We've actually been outspent by two clubs who have spent time in the Championship in the past ten years, it's madness. Fulham have spent £1m less but we've been far stronger in the premier league. Villa are just a disgrace.
