CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

Unai Emery was forced out by the fans at Valencia for playing cautious football. He has recently taken over at Sevilla.

Hector Cuper hasn't had a decent job in 10 years since getting sacked by Inter. His style of football makes Emery look like Bielsa.

Otto Rehhagel is 74 years old and again is famed for favouring defence over attack.

I said type of manager, not those three and no-one else.

I just needed examples of the experienced type who've got long cvs in the big european leagues but wouldn't only go to a top club.

Rehhagel is too old, I agree, but I don't really know enough about other german managers to name another of that type to use as an example.

And I'd bite your hand off for either Cuper or Emery.

Solskjaer took over a team in 11th out of 16 teams, who'd never won the league before, and delivered them two league titles on the trott, a europa league group spot and two wins over german side stuttgart. And he was closer to winning their CL play off tie than we were.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be incredibly risky, but that's a good record.

If Moyes were to go, nothing would make me happier than getting Solskjær. A genuinly nice person, perfect role model for young people and most importantly, I think he will have great success as a manager.

That said, Solskjær got a lot of money to buy great players with to win the league.

I have no idea what kind of budgets Norwegian teams work on, so thanks for the info mate.

Were Molde the biggest spenders of the lot?

Even if he gets relegated ?

Yup.

I'm sorry, but every manager will be a gamble. We cant/won't get a named manager with pedigree and you need someone who knows the prem and has worked with big constraints.

He's done that, he also has a style of football and is a young manager who will take the chance to step up.

The problem has and always will be the board.

It's all well and good discussing who has won a league cup and who hasn't but Moyes is an excellent manager without the funds to really compete. The game is all about money and you get more for league position than a cup in the cupboard. So that has always been priority.

Walter Smith came here with an excellent record and purchased well to begin with (Materazzi and Dacourt were excellent signings with potential ) but that money never existed. Dunc was sold behind his back and he entrenched us to survive with old experienced pro's as that was his only way of ensuring top flight football. Since the ousting of PJ the board has, on the whole, remained the same. BK has always had a big part to play during the decline of this club. That is what is stale and wrong with this club not Moyes.

Do people honestly think he would be playing some of the players had he had funds to give them a rest. Some good players are out of form but there is nothing to come in and help keep pace with the relentless clubs around us who have far bigger squads and bank balances.

We need new owners now or the future looks dreadful.

Yeah but saying every manager will be a gamble doesn't justify hiring a guy whose team has just been relegated from the league he would be managing.

I wouldn't cry if Martinez took over but i also don't see what makes him a better candidate than a whole host of other managers.

Can we please not turn this thread into another 'Moyes should play the youth' or 'Neville in midfield' debate.

He's a whole lot better than the Hughes' of this world but you're right, there's definitely better options. A middle ground manager.
