CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

I think it would be very very difficult for us to replace Moyes with somebody who would consistently finish higher in the league than we do now so i'd be happy to see him sign. And the dark days of Walter Smith make me nervous about change. Can we honestly expect to finish in the top 4 regularly with a budget like ours? a cup win would be nice though and shouldn't be beyond us.

1) Getting the best out of his strikers which he never does as he makes them run the channels.
2) An inability to break down the lesser teams, the Stokes, Readings, and Norwichs of the league.
3) Making positive subs that aren't enforced.
4) Persisting with his favourite for far too long when it isn't working.
5) HOOF to target man with all the emphasis on the attacking mid getting the goals.

I'm happy with a lot of things Moyes does but he doesn't learn from his main mistakes.

(1) Agreed that our system doesn't result in very high scoring forwards. However it does score as more goals than all but the clubs who spend £50m-150m a season more than us.
(2) We do break down those teams more than anyone but the teams that spend £50m-£150m a year more than us
(3) We rarely have an attacking player to bring on
(4) Who are his favourites? For 6 years in a row (apart from Newcastle last year) we've not finished below a team with a budget within £50m a season of ours so these favourites are probably favourites because they are effective
(5) The only spell of direct football we've played in the last 5 years or so was when we had no strikers. And we finished 5th and go to a cup final. And what is wrong with the attacking midfielders scoring the goals?

Not a good day but we still finshed above liverpool that season who had spent 100 million quid on new players.

Still doesn't mean they weren't the worst Liverpool team in living memory, them doing a treble on us was a f*cking embarassment.

Great post mate. The inability from some Blues, to see just how much Moyes has over performed given his budget staggers me tbh.

Not the first trebble is it. Still you take away from it what you want...I know a few of reds who would have taken our league position instead of blowing the club up financially and finishing below a team that is run on vapour.

1) It doesn't matter how much you spend on a striker if you make him run the channels. He's done it to Beattie, Yak, Johnson and now Jelavic, and is a persistent problem of Moyes'
2) We draw with those teams a lot, you have to admit. We don't often lost to them, but we rarely seem to beat them. We're only good at beating teams who have a go themselves.
3) Oviedo and Barkley in recent times, instead he brings on Naismith.
4) Cahill and Saha last year, no other manager in the league would've persisted with that. Neville in midfield being another.
5) This year we've predominantely hoofed it to Fellaini and barely scored from his flick ons. We've got the squad to play passing football but we rarely do, especially not through the middle.

Do you think they were patronising you?

Bearing in mind the anfield debacle was for us to progress in the FA cup which they laughed and celebrated heartily about.

Seems a wembley final (that they come close to retrieving) plus 3 derby wins trumps our "challenging for europe" (luv that bollocks)

That's not fair. We have played some lovely football this year, we really have.

Anyone who'd rather finish 7th with no cup finals, no trophies, no derby wins, and no europe than 8th with three derby wins, a trophy, two cup finals and european qualification is an idiot.

Whenever David Moyes leaves it will be a monumental day for EFC.
After a period of tumult and depression he has brought stability and a high degree of respectability to the club...even if he has so far fallen short of winning something.
There are a lot of younger supporters who have known only David Moyes as manager.

He brings stability, the ability to spot young talent, the ability to make players play to the best of their ability to the club.
Also at time he brings ultra conservatism to his teams,he brings loyalty too far and his nature is to win by defending rather than attacking.
No matter what happens we owe him a debt for bringing the club from near relegation certainties to CL contenders.

Is he replaceable..of course he is,but any managerial appointment is a risk and whoever follows David Moyes has a hard act to follow.
However, after a dozen years at the one club it may be that club and manager may benefit from a change. For many it is the fear of change that makes them want David Moyes to stay. I remember when Walter Smith was sacked by Bill Kenwright many of the so called experts were at pains to point out the wonderful job he was doing and we would live to regret his sacking...we knew better and we never did regret his sacking.

Can you name me a manager in the Premier League who is attacking by nature operating on a similar budget?

I seriously don't remember anyone who was against removing Walter Smith.

No I'm talking about 20+ seasons of Premier League football. In that time no other team has done better on a consistent basis than Everton under Moyes without significant investment (hundreds of millions of £)

Moyes isn't even the best manager we've had in that time period, let alone the best manager anyone's had.

Wow. Just, wow.

I've seen some of the best football in the EPL played by Everton this season. Not excluding the 'big 4' sides, out of everyone. This is incredibly short sighted just to try and prove a point.
