CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

If Steve McClaren takes over after Moyes I will never step foot in Goodison until he leaves. I can't believe people actually want him, he his one of the worst managers with an awful record. Oh wait, he got to UEFA Cup final and won the league cup, so therefore people think he's some sort of genius. The amount of money he spent at Boro and he took them nowhere except on 2 cup runs, failed at every other job (apart from Twente first time round and now they want him out)

"If he is to leave, he will want to go somewhere he can walk into the chairman’s office during a January transfer window and say “Look, we could do with buying these players” and the money is handed over. He’s not had that before.

Moyes isn’t the type to go courting for other jobs, and I don’t think he’s lying in bed thinking about wanting to leave. He is too busy and too hard-working for that.

He is just waiting to see what happens, and wants to see at the end of his 11th year in charge where exactly the club will be in terms of going forward."

Going forward = Out of my cold dead hands.

That piece adds nothing in all honesty, given who's written it.

"But if they finish sixth or seventh and don't win the FA Cup, he is in a different position. Do Everton really want to be a top-four club? Moyes wants them to. But do the board? Can they match his ambition?

"I don't know. I appreciate their honesty in coming out and saying they have no money, but they can't keep on saying that forever. In all fairness, the board should have found some money in January and added three players.

"Look, we never really know what's going on behind the scenes but I'd have wanted to add at least three more players. It would have made a massive difference and they could really have gone for it in the second half of the season."

Ambition = New lick of paint, a couple of loans and Bob,s blog.

Benitez's record, particularly at Valencia, speaks for itself, but he's become such a comedy figure in England after his 'facts' rant that I'll be very surprised if he ever gets another job here. I think the main reason he's at Chelsea is because Abramovic is so detached from the fans/media, as well as the lack of options they had available to them.

McClaren is the same. It wouldn't matter if he won ten straight titles in Holland - he'd still be the Wally with a Brolly. Villa fans are probably sorry they reacted so badly to Lerner trying to appoint him though. Big 'Eck makes McClaren look like an all-time great.

I don't disagree with any of that and let me stress again I don't think either of them have absolutely any chance of any consideration for the job they're just names that are being discussed not in relation to our job but about their abilities or performance. effectively the conversation is moving along , the way they do .

I have trouble that people seem to have an impression of moyes that wages etc ... Aren't important to him it's all about his funds . It took moyes a long time to agree his deal last time , it dragged on and the fact he didn't get millions to spend but did get a massive wage rise leads you to think his wages are important to him and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that . I'll be honest I'm a bit uncomfortable with the way he's allowing the deal to count down waiting to see if anyone is tempted whilst it seems we could easily be in a situation that damages us next season .

Moyes has always outperformed the clubs yearly operational plan with the odd yearly exception. I am not sure how he would damage us next season to be honest and it appears the owner is fine with the current situation.

I would like Moyes to stay and I would like Moyes to be backed. That's all

I don't think many would argue with that mate . My concern would be of he stays because nobody else wanted him , if you look at it in terms of relationship that'd not a huge recipe for success

This in spades for me.

So we are planning for next season and will continue to do so with a manager that is at best waiting for offers . Do we spend our meagre budget on a moyes player that a new manager might not fancy or do we drag our feet and potentially miss out on targets , what If the players a new manager fancies has already gone , what about Felliani and Baines do we sell for funds or keep who makes that decision moyes ? Even though he might nor be here . How about if we get a replacement in mind but other clubs come for him do we just wait for moyes to get an offer or make his mind up ?

That's all off the top of my head , do you not think any of that could damage us next season ?

I agree. I think we've probably reached a point where Everton can't afford to pay Moyes much more than he's already earning, and so there isn't really anything new the board can offer him to stay. Anyone thinking that Moyes is going to bully Kenwright into finding investment or selling up is living in a fantasy world.

I'll always hold Moyes in high regard for the job he's done here, but as I've said before, it'll leave a sour taste in my mouth when he leaves due to the limited ambitions of a board he went out of his way to endorse when it suited him.

No, agreed. I still think he wants to stay and improve us though. Given even a bit of jump change comparatively, We could make a real push. It seems pathetic that my view is almost idealistic though.
