Have you read the news? There is a huge bump in the IPC, and the 3000 are coming in priced right at the same levels as the outgoing 2000 series.
Get a 3000 series. Even the 3600 is matching the i9-9900k on single core performance and beating it on multi-thread. And that is from a $200 USD processor. 6 cores, 12 threads all on a 65W TDP. It is some impressive performance.
All going to depend on price and availability of things...none of the current mobo's will have BIOS support out of the box so you'll need an AM4 chip, which I don't have, to slot in just to update the BIOS if you can't get a hold of a new revision. Bit of a conundrum.
