Hmm, for some reason I thought RBR was a continuation of the CMR series.....I am way off base on that one. I will have to check it out.
Rally Champ 2000 was hard, but it isn't really that realistic. I was just commenting for effect really. Although in regards to GP4, I thought the wet weather physics are still up there with the best of the actual racing simulations out there. Just thinking, now I have a decent computer, I really need to check out some decent racing games. I have Race 07 in my steam library.....is that worth a bash?
Hmm. Race 07 is ok but very dated, simbin physics aren't great tbh.
The best options are
IRacing: strictly for hardcore sim heads with wheel/pedals. Best overall sim by some distance but costs a ton of money to get into properly. I've spent about £1200 on it over the past five years and that's not including the thousands spent on the wheel/pedals/shifter/triple screens/racing rig etc.... it's more a hobbie than a game....
Assetto corsa: great physics (if a bit forgiving on the limit), driving experience is wonderful... everything else sucks though. It's basically good for lapping by yourself and just driving for the joy of experiencing the physics... as an actual racing game it's nothing special, the ai are terrible and multiplayer very basic.
Raceroom: kinda like a modern upto date simbin game, Ceri good single player experience. Physics are better than your usual games such as Forza, GT and project cars but isn't on the level of the top sims. It's pricing structure is kinda weird as well. Probs best to buy a single expansion for it such as adac gt masters.
F1 2016: which has turned out surprisingly well and is easily the best f1 game since GP4. It's still a bit simcade but with all assists off it actually handles surprisingly legit. Cars behave how you'd expect them to more or less. It's the most fleshed out game of all the ones I mentioned as well.
Also bare in mind I'm reviewing these from a wheel/pedal perspective. Out of all of them I think f1 2016 and raceroom are the only ones which handle ok on a joypad.
