Computer games.

Do steam boxes exist yet?

I know alienware do them but can't be arsed paying a grand for one. Ideally i want to swap my Ps4 in for a gaming pc one day. Just have one like a console, so no windows or anything, just turn on, pick game and go. Not too sure on the steam controllers though, can't get my head around using them.

Was hoping there was a good one for like 300 quid like it though

@RFUS - i've never played a Deus Ex game before but this looks good.

Is it first person or 3rd? or both as the screenshots and vids make it look!? Easy to pick up and get on with?

And is it an open world type thing? I do love an open world game.

Been getting into civ v, had to restart a couple of times as I'm still learning the intricacies but I was buzzing when I handed Ramses' arse to him last night with some chariot archers.

Deus ex is first person. You have city hubs where you find side quests and stuff, and upgrade your abilities through finding praxis chips. You get loads of abilities as well, from invisibility to remote hacking.

Plus there is both a stealth and action aspect to it. Idea is there is more than one way normally to so something, so shoot way in, go through the sewer stealthy etc

First person but it will switch to third when you are in cover, to give you a better view of your surroundings and so you can peek around corners by just rotating the camera.

It is set in Prague, and this functions as a hub. It's open world gameplay here, so you can run off and find secrets, hack into offices and homes, murder people and hide them in garages. Whatever. The missions themselves (the main ones certainly) usually take place in separate locations. But these provide lots of routes to the objective so player choice and freedom is really very good no matter what you're doing or where in the story you are. Also, though the Prague hub isn't massive, it's very densely packed with things to explore. You can break into way more places than you might expect.

For newcomers it's a good entry point. The only other major modern entry was Human Revolution, which was also ace but had more frustrations (stealth playthrough boss fights were horrendous). They also have a really handy 12 minute intro video to explain the story up to this point, something I wish more developers would include. And gameplay wise, there are loads of difficulty options and abilities to tailor the challenge to your skill level, so you should be fine here even as a first time player.

All in all, can't recommend it enough. I've not seen anyone dislike it.

First person with third person view while in cover.

Sort of an open world, in so far as you can do side quests and walk around/explore a bit. Not fully open world however as you are encouraged to do the main story.

I've only played for a few hours so the above paragraph might change.

Yes they exist but i wouldnt reccomend buying one. Very overpriced for what you get. I had some great advise once...if you have never seen games running at high res at upwards of 60 fps on all titles. Stop !!! Play a playstation or xbox...its a nice cheapish hobby. Once you see a game running that good it suddenly becomes an addiction. I have a devils canyon cpu with 32 gigs of ddr..a 980ti...watercooled pc. But I am already saving up for the 1080. Its madness mate...run to the hills !!! I tell you what though.....my god it's fun. Just stay away from the steam machines....you wont get much more performance than a ps4 !!!

Fair enough mate, cheers.

i want cheap gaming tbh more than anything. Top of the range stuff doesn't really bother me as much but it was the hope i could get games for a few quid on the sales that appealed to me.

Otherwise have no idea how to build a pc whatsoever.

Was this the one where they contracted out the boss fights to a different dev company? What an utterly horrific idea.

You can buy the parts to to build a solid gaming rig for ~£300. Putting it together is just a case of watching Youtube videos on your phone if you're not sure. It's just grown up lego.
