plus Crimbo revelry….

Good piece with our chief partnerships officer Mark Rollings in The NY Times (reader veiw is your friend)

Looks like we’re still on the periphery a little when it comes to the more associated sponsorship industries e.g. airlines etc but we have been trying to engage them. Interesting to see which industries / business will feature in the next lot of sponsorship.

I hope they’ve staggered the terms for each sponsorship deal otherwise, based on what he said there a lot will expire at the same time. Not sure about the orchestrated approach with Roma and Cannes.

I post this in June 2024;

I was in Rome a few years back and was surprised just how active/desperate they were at all key tourist sites to sell tickets to watch Roma.

Just had a nose at their average attendances - it was half their capacity when I was there. Never selling out. So not surprised they were desperately trying to fill seats.

Friedkins have done well to increase that attendance - it's a remarkable uplift, really?

... a good indication of what was to come, and they do seem very good at commercial uplift.

Just hope it doesn't go too far, like I don't like the paid, annual membership dictation for tickets and the lottery etc.

Fairly obviously not having a long haul international airport in the city does put us (and even our neighbours) on the back foot for any substantial airline sponsor deals. They have a lower tier deal with JAL and maybe we can land a similar entry point in the portfolio but Financial Services and Entertainment/Leisure might more realistic shirt opportunities.

With 11 gambling sponsors to be replaced across PL in one summer it is going to be a tough market to secure fair value. The new stadium helps us battle those headwinds to some degree but it might be a commercial step back this summer in this sponsorship.

certainly seem to be increasing our Official Partner for <insert random goods or services> sponsorships.

For comparison Man U have 21 of these on there website footer compared to our 20 (no doubt theirs will also be worth more of course)

Accounts due in March so not long to wait to see if we’re in the market for Ousmane Dembélé or Sandro Mk2 in the summer

They won't show any impact for HD stadium as they're last year's accounts.

I wouldn't expect much tbh. The Friedkin's were only involved in the later half of those accounts.

You sure? Though it would be 25/26. They took over in Dec 24 and I thought we’d had 24/25 last March.
Edit - you are correct last March release was 23/24 (covering until 30th June 24) so this lot should be July 24 - June 25.
Should still show loads of debit clearance and a far healthier position.
