it hasn't been greatly reduced, IMHO it remains the same - but the decision on it pushed further down the road.
I never expected the null and void conversations to be had in early April. That would be far too sensible, and forward thinking a business strategy for the powers that be. There still seems to be this misguided belief that we can just roll the league out after a week in June and complete all league and cup fixtures, while not impacting next season.
There also seems to be no understanding of how your solve the quite acute contractual difficulties we are going to face. I'd also say, there is a lot of legalism at play here. People and institutions behaving in a way that they know can be defensible in the future in a court of law, when they try to make out they didn't want the league to be voided. Essentially we have weak, cowardly leaders who are all unprepared to make a difficult and potentially unpopular decision.
That being said, the longer this goes on the closer we get to that point. It's fine FIFA making proclamations from on high that hold no legal weight, but it does;t resolve the question of who is paying for these contract extensions, and who is going to ensure lads who have better deals on the table don't follow them? There's some abstract talk of bringing back close shop and erasing 30 years of legislature that prevents this. It's very easy to say "Play it at any cost" it's a lot more difficult to say "and I will fund the process to allow it to be done".
Of course when the nitty gritty of what this means is put back to clubs, possibly clubs who are on the brink of financial difficulty (or even ruin) that they have to keep paying players even after the contracts have ended and they've budgeted for them to be gone, is when teams will have to start saying, this utter farce cannot be allowed to continue.
