Also aren't you guys kinda causing more emissions by having everyone drive alternate routes that are longer, and now congested.
Seems kind of counterintuitive and just stupid.

You seem to be under the belief that all alternative routes are much longer than the one affected in the hypothetical case of a protest.
This is just a bit weird and quite frankly you are stretching the truth to make your point.
I did agree with the sentiment of your last post but this is silly.
If you are from the US you know the way they build cities here is that they are specifically designed in grids. So in most cases the alternate routes are the same or maybe a minute or two longer perhaps.
Given that most protests happen in cities and not villages and small town i doubt emergency services have miles to cover if redirected.
Unless of course the accident is in the immediate area of said protest.
