To be fair to Greta Thunberg she constantly says that people need to listen to the scientists and not to her.

I'm not having a go at her to be honest. I admire her courage and, to a degree, her eloquence, although I have to be honest and say I cringed heavily at that speech and I think people in positions of power will be rolling their eyes in private too.
No, I have a much bigger issue with the adults who allow her to talk in broadly inaccurate absolutes because of her limited moralistic view of the situation, all for photo opps and political gains.
She doesn't see the world geopolitically - she just sees the world in terms of right and wrong, good and evil. Which is admirable, but adults shouldn't be exploiting her for it, just as much as her audience should be at least somewhat critical of her for it.

You know what's strange? You know where she's getting photos fistbumping Obama etc.?
They are the exact people she should really be angry at. Because they are the people who failed to make the argument she's trying to make.
Trump and so on are the opposition. You're always going to have an opposition to beat for a cause. Don't get angry at them - beat them. But get angry if your own team doesn't bother turning up for the game.
It’s fashionable to hate Trump though. Seems if you want to get anywhere or make some point just jump on the Trump bandwagon.
And I’m not a Trump supporter by any stretch of the imagination.
She is having a go at every adult who failed to act. But the reason she might pick on the American GOP the party trump now runs is purely because they are climate change deniers pure and simple.
Obama is no saint but when he was in office he passed Bill's that helped the environment and alternate energy companies in the us. He also put protection on the parks and made sure the EPA were strict.
What did Trump do? He revoked all of those laws becuase the industries that back the GOP told him too.
He put men and women in charge off the EPA and other organizations who are climate deniers and who worked for the very companies they sought to protect against. Thus making sure they could never do anything to help.

Yeah, it’s a bit sad. A young girl who is still developing mentally and physically is being put in the spotlight by elites that couldn’t give an actual toss about climate change or her wellbeing.
This is exactly how extremists are born. She is being applauded for her warped sense of morality. I feel sorry for her.

I doubt she is the type to settle down and forget about everything, I can just imagine her in 5 years time giving this emotional speech to her boyfriend:
"This is all wrong. I shouldn't be here. I should be back in university on the other side of the ocean. Yet you come to me begging forgiveness. How dare you!
You have stolen my dreams and my livelihood with your empty words. And yet I'm one of the lucky ones. People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing. However this could just be a projection of my experiences with women...
