..it’s not so much about who should go, it’s more about who should come in.

We definitely need reinforcements (striker, left sided centre half and cover at left full back). But for once in my lifetime our squad doesn't lack numbers, just quality. We do need a cull and ship out underperforming players to raise funds to purchase the quality needed.

Would review the future of the following:

Jagielka - get rid as he is older than Williams. Would keep Williams as a squad player.
Baines would be relegated to the role of 'squad player at best' playing when the first choice left back is injured/certain cup games
Besic - not good enough
McCarthy - too injury prone. The new Darron Gibson.
Klaassen - give him until the end of the season, but looking very unlikely he has the quality at this level.
Martina - same as Baines

Would like to see Sandro play in the U23's for a bit like Niasse did and get some confidence back. He may not make it but he is very young, has shown talent in a top league already and was cheap. His signing was risk free and not in the same category as Klaassen for me.

Williams (do it twice so he gets the message)
McCarthy
Besic (I like him but I've given up hope now that he'll ever make it)
Lennon (Lookman should be played before him)
Mirallas (I've liked him over the course of his stay here but he's lost his pace and is nowhere near as effective as he used to be)
Niasse (I like his character but he isn't good enough)

Did this earlier elsewhere. Jagielka, Baines, McCarthy, Williams, Besic, Mori, Robles, Niasse, Mirallas, Lennon. Maybe a few more of the young uns who aren't going to make it. Galloway and Garbutt spring to mind. Pretty much anyone remaining from either the Moyes or Martinez eras. Clear that lot out in the summer and rebuild. Pretty much stuck with most of Koemans flops for a bit, but I do expect most of them to come good.

Then it's a case of finding decent players to come in and do a job for us.
