I’m just pointing out the whataboutisms that seem to turn up in all these threads.

If you want to make a thread on the current situation regarding those still being held at Guantanamo, then you should go for it.
You certainly won’t hear me disagreeing that holding people for such long periods of time without proper legal protection is disgraceful.
Does it make me uncomfortable to talk about the misdeeds and crimes committed by western countries? Yes. It should make everyone who lives here uncomfortable.

As should those living in or defending China feel uncomfortable with their regimes actions and policies. This is the China thread after all.

As all threads it drifted, human rights was at the crux of it so only balance to point out that the west needs to clean up its own house before finger pointing?

Back on point, I think what @tsubaki suggests is it gives us carte blanched to critique China and absolutely ignore anything @davids or @hktoffee says about the west because we don't have to acknowledge anything that might have validity.

I doesn't mean a lot to me I'm just as most here,an interested bye stander. My interest is more based in trying to find out what is propaganda and what is believable. I watched a very interesting program on a French news channel where a US diplomat stated that the Chinese claims to Taiwan were just something that the US has had to agree to disagree on for over 70 years. Yet suddenly it's become a threat to world peace...what to believe?

Not sure how often in the last 70 years China has threatened to invade Taiwan. Maybe that's the difference
