If you want to make a thread on the current situation regarding those still being held at Guantanamo, then you should go for it.
You certainly won’t hear me disagreeing that holding people for such long periods of time without proper legal protection is disgraceful.
Does it make me uncomfortable to talk about the misdeeds and crimes committed by western countries? Yes. It should make everyone who lives here uncomfortable.
As should those living in or defending China feel uncomfortable with their regimes actions and policies. This is the China thread after all.

TBF this is one of those things that really does my head in about modern politics, this idea (which we'd never accept here) that the people of a country should feel uncomfortable with what we feel uncomfortable with about that country.

Maybe a bit idealistic on my part, I know - I suppose some people have enough on their plate without shouldering their countries ills as well as their own.
The world is a dark place at times and I personally quite like being able to shine a light on what states do. I'm under no illusion that Britain has and does some horrible stuff. But that's me, I'm not particularly chauvinistic about the country I live in.

Every time I hear someone say that though it makes me think of the video that the 7/7 bombers left behind, that they were justified in doing what they did because we must have supported the Blair government in what it did.
