that's not my youtube channel, he's called Winston, a well-known China vlogger, some eye-opening stuff on his channel.

As someone who has lived and worked in Beijing, I can tell you that he's one of the best and most accurate.

Sadly, a lot of my foreign friends in Beijing, including my cousin in Tianjin, have been facing the same government sanctioned discrimination. I was pleased I got out when I did.

he does seem fair and reasoned, since Corona hit you can tell he's getting more passionate too.

you are lucky enough to station in Beijing, the situation will be much worst in second/third grade city throughout the rest of China.

The company I was teaching at has many centres throughout the country, and I had a couple of friends who were in Chengdu and they certainly faced more difficulties than I did. I was fortunate enough that Beijing had plenty of watering holes otherwise I'd have completely lost my mind.

Article in the Ecomomist:

China calls it the biggest emergency-aid operation that it has mounted abroad since 1949, when the Communist Party seized power. Hardly a day goes by without news of Chinese medical supplies, from masks to ventilators, reaching grateful recipients; and of Chinese medical teams flying to foreign countries to help them fight covid-19. Just a few weeks ago China was by far the biggest victim of the new coronavirus, and its government was widely chided for covering up the initial outbreak. Now China is trying to paint a new picture—of itself as a model for taming the disease, and as the world’s saviour.

'No Diplomat, no comment'.

:coffee:

I’m done lollollol

THANK YOU CHINA FOR SAVING THE WORLD

Either his levels of wummery have reached an absolute pinnacle or he truly believes that despite unleashing the virus on the world and lying through their teeth ever since, the Peoples " Democracy " of China really are riding into save the world.

I`m still on the fence at the moment.
I just think he likes to pick an opposing view and then argue the toss about it for his own amusement

Not great this and smacks of using the focus of the pandemic to sneak these arrests at a time most are more worried about the pandemic.

Heard today they are trying to sneak in a new law which enables the Beijing party to arrest anyone they choose...if they suspect them of speaking against the government or china.

IMO, given the appalling level of physical attacks being carried out on our fellow Chinese Britons, there needs to be some sense of decorum in this thread. I know that attacking China's rulers is legitimate, but it seems like a sport for some, and it must make waves inadvertantly for ordinary ethnic Chinese citizens...of which there WILL be some on this forum.

Linking to global news lol

Crying racism when legitimate criticisms of the Chinese Communist Party are made lol

The poor deer has been snared.
