It might seem a trivial matter, but Everton (and Arsenal for that matter) should refuse to play any Sunday away game after an away trip in the EL at 1.30.
We had to do it at OT after coming back from Krasnodar and it's just not fair.
It might seem trivial, but those extra couple of hours to recover from the previous game/travelling could make a difference.
The greedy FA would fine both clubs rather than help

...didn't see the game but it sounded like it mattered to Rooney so got my vote.

I really don't like playing 3 CBs. For me it indicates the 2 are not good enough, I also think it doesn't suit Keane. Two wing backs who don't bomb forward means it's all so negative. RK's tactics confuse me at times, but I just want to see my team provide a real threat. Too often we pose no threat at all.

I agree with you there. I think he needs to be the one in charge, the one who is authoritative as part of a two, to feel confident and know his role. In a 3 he doesn't seem to really understand his role or where to position himself.

If we are to play defensively with two defensive midfielders, I think Calvert-Lewin needs to be playing instead of the extra centre back. The defense needs a fast/strong/good in the air outlet in order to relieve the pressure when playing against good sides and to create space. Think Koeman got this right against City, but dreadfully wrong today.

It's always been this and I have no problem with it

I think throwing in the Monday night game at city was a problem. No reason that couldn't have been on Sunday too

Giz a vote lads the least we can do for all Andy C's efforts!!:), can't believe so many of us don't vote in the polls!!

....I always have a close look at the voting, fascinating when it's either close or there's a clear winner. DCL running away with this one on 63 at the moment suggesting he's won over many sceptical folk.

The MoM voting is a great way of reflecting the true views of GOT members. Voting is simple but it is so effective. I agree, the more voters the more accurate the outcome. These are truly worthwhile polls.

better than last season...

We are a squad in transistion, so they say.
RK saw last season what a big job Everton was to fix.
He has started fixing it no doubt, but we are still broken lads.

Sorry state of affairs when a lad who was on the pitch for 30 minutes is MOTM. Granted though, in that time he showed why he should have started - he seemed to win most of his aerial duels, ran the channels, successfully chased down a couple of hoof's, and in general kept us up the pitch a lot more.

He also seemed to wind up Sideshow Bob which I enjoyed. That said I voted Rooney MOTM, for the simple fact he put a good shift in and seemed to be one of the few who could give a s***.

Starting to fix it. He and Walsh have nearly bought a new starting 11 since he arrived (it was needed mind you). I am one of koeman's biggest supporters, but even I am becoming frustrated over how many times, he is either picking the wrong team or system in big games. I do happen to think we have some quality players, but it seems we aren't getting the best out of them at present, certainly against the top 6 teams.

And of course I respect you having a different opinon.
My view and it is plastered all over this site in places, is that the squad last season was awful! Just that it was better than 13 below us.
On performances last season with a view that RK was pledging CL by 2019....then I could only really see Tom Davies, Ross( before the rot) Seamus, Idris and Schnidelin still being around in 2019. So then he got DCL and Lookman, but for me the job is not finished as 11 is not enough as what he inherited was so poor. Just my view mate ;)

Chelsea and City play 3 at the back as much for it's offensive attributes as the defensive. We seem to play it to get an extra man in defence. Would probably be different if we had a proper attacking full back like Coleman on the pitch. Baines needs players in front of him to work off and he doesn't have that in this formation, so we end up with a flat back 5, overrun in midfield, and surrendering territory to the opposition.
Yeah, much different if we had Coleman (still can't get over that tackle)...And Bolasie.
But why play Holgate? I like the lad but he was useless going forward.
Ok part of that had to do with Sandro in front who was completely useless.
It looked like Rooney was trying to mentor him, give him the belief. But deep down they most know this is not where he belongs.
I'd much rather see him in the LCB ie Holgate - Keane - Williams/Jags/?

Last season I was saying that Williams, Jags and Baines will need replacing with better quality. They have had their best days. But I do not think RK wil replace them this season and so I expect us to ship a few more goals in.
Helps to have shots on target mind you!

You see player when u play against such a maestros as is Willian, Pedro etc. So, Mo Besic was the best player today. Gana, Davies and rest- just showed their level.

I agree to a point, last season you could argue Coleman, Morgan, Gana, Barkley and lukaku were the only players who would good enough for a team with aspirations of CL football. With an outlay of 150m you could argue we could add Rooney, Keane, siguardsson and Pickford to that list. However we could well lose Barkley along with lukaku. However we look overloaded with centre midfield players and lack pace and a striker within our squad. Furthermore as I have repeated on many occasions we need a centre back with pace that would alllow us to play higher up the pitch.

It was just really disheartening to see them not even try to go for it in the second half and more or less accept defeat so we didn't get completely thrashed again
