Thanks to god, you aren't a referee then. Sorry mate, but completely disagree. Even if I watch the incident again for over a 1000 times, it will never be a pen in my eyes. Closer to a yellow for Anelka tbh.

Watch it again, and tell me Howard makes any sort of movement towards the ball. :)

The replay shows that maybe the Pen should not have been given with Toffee Colored glasses. That play will always result in a Pen and the only question is a Red or Yellow. The yellow was approprate. The ref got it right. The back pass was simply pure [Poor language removed] and Pip facked up. So we play defensively and a bad defensive lapse leads to goal. How is this different than most matches this season?

This is just how we are rolling right now. Need something to get us out of this crap.

Handballs have to be intentional. Distin didn't move his hand towards the ball, in fact when he noticed it had gone through Kalou's legs he tried to move his hand away.

Malouda should have been sent off though. A bit of a stamp and a hand to the face.

Yeah, the cheating tw*t ^^ Never did like the French.

It's the "hand in an unnatural position" rule ain't it - he didn't move towards the ball or deliberately stop it's trajectory.

Still, better safe than sorry when it comes to potentially being labelled a cheat. We wouldn't want that!

In seriousness, we really could do with being a bit more "arl arse" in our play.

Blimey, our stats attacking play.
Left 20%
Centre 73%
Right 7%

Pass Coleman the ball!

Shots Chelsea 11 - Everton 3.
It only takes one good one boys. Come on Everton.

Dont forget we're at Chelsea....and he's not booked Malouda for giving Neville a little push in the face....The ref is giving that peno all day long...

Isn't any rule that I'm aware of that says you can't play hard and even a bit chippy while staying within the rules and spirit of the game.

By the letter of the law, not a pen. Clearly Howard makes no attempt to move towards Anelka, but Anelka actually changes direction into him.

However every ref these days will give them as pens. In reality it's tantamount to a dive, because Anelka consciously made the decision to run into Howard to impore the ref to give a pen.

Hahahaha....

Ian Darke:

"The average attendance in the Premiership is 41,000 while the average attendance at a Russian Premier League match is 10,000"

He made no attempt to move towards the ball at the feet of the player, the ball went out of his influence and he statically stood in the way of the attacking player. You have to make a play for the ball if you make contact with an opposition player.

In short, a block - clear penalty and extremely fortunate to be on the pitch.

Anelka was running toward Howard who was stood still. Then instead of anelka going round Howard he ran straight into him kneeing him in the face and knocking him over.

Yet Howard committed the foul? Why would he deliberatly block him knowing it would be a foul? He realised he couldn't get the ball so made no attempt to try and do so knowing he would of bought Anelka down.

As proven on here its one of those that can be seen either way. Personally i don't think it was a clear enough "foul" by Howard to of been given but others, and the ref did.

Hopefully Yak and Beckford will come on when Chelsea get the second. Coyb or soemthing.

That's not the point though mate. We know simulation is cheating, but given the FA do nothing about it and every other team does it on a weekly basis, in a professional sport you do whatever it takes to gain a competitive advantage and win.

Anelka didn't even try to score then - he knew he was one-on-one, Howard was committed, so he knocked it past the 'keeper and made sure the 'keeper hit him, hoping for a penalty AND a sending off.

Isn't that cheating? And isn't that the sort of smart footballing decision you wish an Everton striker would make every so often!
